Sometimes no words are better….

Instead of saying, "I know what it feels like", let's say "I cannot imagine your heartbreak".

Instead of saying, "You're strong, you'll get through this, let's say " You'll hurt, and I'll be here.

Instead of saying, "You look like you're doing well, Let's say, "How are you holding up today?"

Instead of saying, "Healing takes time", let's say "Healing has no timeline".

Instead of saying, "Everything happens for a reason, let's say "This must feel so terribly senseless right now".

And when there are no words to say at all, you don't need to try and find some.
Love speaks in silences too.

I am so proud to be involved in the emerging Service Dog industry in South Africa. Grant Smith trains Psychiatric Support Dogs (my passion) and they are LITERALLY changing lives!! He also trains Autism Support Dogs, Mobility Assistant Dogs, Hearing Assistant Dogs and Medical Alert Assistant Dogs (Seizure alert, Diabetic alert etc). Every one of his dogs that he has provided has given his clients their lives back!! This is powerful work 🔥 He is also helping those who are in need of a well-trained dog to gently help them emotionally (Emotional Support Dogs) through a phenomenal hybrid (online and in-person), self-paced course. His work impacts positively on so many lives. He is truly an expert in his field.Please get the word out there for all the people battling who need his help…

For those in the Greater Durban area who love dogs and want to improve their training skills, this is a wonderful opportunity to give back to those with disabilities. It is not easy to take a puppy into your heart knowing that you will have to give him up after a year or so….but he is destined for greater things in the world with someone whose life will be forever changed because of your love and contribution. And wow, that feeling cannot be matched!!!

Hi everyone, I am Ravenclaw and I am the latest addition to the Smart Service Dog family. I am probably going to be a Mobility Assistant Dog when I grow up because I am going to be a lovely big boy. Who you see yourself to be is what really matters… others will always view you through their own lense of unique experiences… those experiences do NOT result in an expert opinion of you!!

The way people view you.

Sometimes I think about the different characters I play in everybody’s story.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m a terrible person in some people's narratives and a Godsend in others.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And none of it has anything to do with the person I truly am.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The lens that others view you through is coloured by their upbringing, beliefs, and individual experiences.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Some people see your bright personality as endearing and others see it as annoying.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Some people think you’re weak and emotional and others feel safe to be themselves around you.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Some people think you’re rude and selfish and others respect the way you stand up for yourself.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Some people admire the way you take pride in the way you look and others think you’re conceited.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And none of it has to do with who you truly are as a person.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What you have to understand is that you have no authority over how people view you so never try to control the way others see you because the only thing that truly matters when the dust settles down at the end of the day is what you genuinely see in yourself.

💔 Some of us understand….

They asked me if she was strong.

And I said yes.
I said yes without hesitation.

Because I’d seen her pick her heavy heart up off the floor, even when it weighed a ton.

Because I’d watched her claw her way back from rock bottom, even when it was a steep and treacherous climb.

Because I’d seen her lift herself up and drag herself through life, even when she was tired and weary to her bones.

Because I’d watched her persevere, persist and press on even when she was carrying the weight of her world on her shoulders.

And they told me I’d misunderstood.
They meant how strong was she physically?
How much could she hold in her hands and carry in her arms?

But it was not me who had misunderstood true strength. It was them.

Because they hadn’t realised that
all too often,
the heaviest things we hold
and the biggest weights we carry

are the things that can’t be seen.
