Hi 24 team

I did first aid training with you guys last year. Thank goodness!!!

On 1 Feb 2026 a taxi full of employees was on route to Dutton’s Cove restaurant in Heroldsbay when their brakes failed. One of the passengers grabbed the steering wheel in an attempt to rather crash than continue increasing speed downhill and end up who knows where. The taxi hit our neighbor's tree and then 2 of our stationary cars before it came to a standstill right in front of our gate.

I NEVER thought my first test would be with 12 people of which half was hysteric. Your training gave me that bit of confidence to enter the total chaos and take control. I did not do everything according to the book, missed some steps and did some revision this morning 😊, but the basics were there and the scene was calmed down and assessed in minutes. I cannot thank you enough!

I also want to extend a thank you to the ER24 paramedics(yes that number is engrained in brain) who arrived on scene within 20 minutes as promised by the dispatcher. They were so professional and calm. Don’t think I was ever so glad to hand responsibility over!!!
