Menu planning!
Most Sundays I try sit down and plan the menu for the week's meals. My menu planning session got hijacked today by a busy bee but that's ok! I find it so helpful to know what I'll be making in advance. This also helps me stick to that choice rather than make a less healthy decision at the last minute.

I love a good tray bake. So simple, so quick, so tasty 😍
My tray bake for tonight has....butternut, chicken pieces, broccoli, sweet potato, potato, salt and pepper, garlic, olive oil and LOTS of rosemary from the garden 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱 I'll bake it at 180degC for about 1 hour. I like to cook it for a little longer so that we get some gungy, sticky, roasty, dark bitsπŸ˜ƒπŸ€—

I love me a good warm bowl! Such a great way to use up all the extra bits and bobs in the fridge and so full of flavour and nutrients. My warm bowl today featured some bulgur wheat, tomatoes, baby spinach from the garden, leftover cooked veggies, avo, bacon, seeds and this amazing avo dressing from Sarah Graham.... Recipe for this dressing is below πŸ‘‡πŸΌπŸ‘‡πŸΌ

You can be vaccinated while breastfeeding ❀️

If you are breastfeeding you can have the vaccination for COVID-19. You do not need to wean before or after receiving the vaccination. The COVID-19 vaccination may provide indirect protection to babies by transferring antibodies through the breastmilk.

Your breastmilk contains antibodies and other immunological benefits that can help protect your baby against respiratory diseases including COVID-19. If you have COVID-19 it is recommended that you continue breastfeeding. Continue to wear a mask, and wash your hands before caring for your baby.

For any Momma's needing formula!

For any Momma's needing formula!

[FOR ALL THE MAMMAS WHO ARE UNABLE TO ACCESS BABY FORMULA - EMERGENCY USE ONLY!!]

If you have DRIED SKIM MILK POWDER
80g dried skim milk powder
50g sugar
60g vegetable oil
Water to the 1350ml mark.

If you have DRIED WHOLE MILK POWDER
110g dried whole milk
50g sugar
30g oil
Water to the 1350ml mark

If you have FRESH MILK or FULL CREAM LONG LIFE MILK
880ml milk
75g sugar
20g oil
Water to the 1350ml mark

Mix oil well so that it does not separate out. Oil is a vital source of energy; if oil floats to the top of the mixture, there is a risk that some children will get too much and others too little. If possible, use an electric blender to thoroughly mix the oil. Otherwise, use a strong rotary whisk or balloon whisk. Use a long whisk so that your hands do not dip into the formula while whisking!

If using an electric blender:
1. Put about 200 ml of the boiled, cooled water into the blender. (If you will use liquid milk instead of milk powder, omit this step.)
2. Add the required amounts of milk or milk powder, sugar and oil
3. Add boiled cooled water to the 1350 ml mark and then blend at high speed.

If using a hand whisk:
1. Mix the required amounts of milk powder and sugar in a 1-litre measuring jug; then add the oil and stir well to make a paste. (If you use liquid milk, mix the sugar and oil, and then add the milk.)
2. Slowly add boiled, cooled water up to 1350 ml, stirring all the time.
3. Whisk vigorously.

This recipe for a diluted F100 can be used to feed your babies (from birth onwards) until you are able to aquire more comercial formula - do so urgently. PLEASE NOTE IT IS A SHORT TERM SOLUTION AND SHOULD NOT BE USED FOR MORE THAN A COUPLE DAYS AS IT WILL NOT MEET MICRONUTRIENT REQUIREMENTS AND WILL RESULT IN MICRONUTRIENT DEFICIENCIES IF USED LONGER TERM!

If needed it can replace all standard infant formulas. If your child is on a specialised infant formula then DM me!

If you have a multivitamin/mineral supplement at home then add that into the mix! The original recipe contains a complete micronutrient component!

Mom's with Covid can still practice skin-to-skin! Yay πŸ€— be sure to wear and face mask, wash hands and proper hygiene ❀️

Skin to skin is so important in the initiation of breastfeeding, keeping baby warm, milk production, maintaining good blood glucose and bonding.
If you have COVID-19, practice good hygiene while practicing skin to skin.
