Body Stress Release - Upper Highway

Body Stress Release - Upper Highway I have been a Body Stress Release Practitioner for 27 years. BSR is a gentle technique that releases stored tension in order to restore self-healing

Body Stress Release is a complementary health technique that assists with releasing tension that has become stored in the physical structures of the body. Body stress can be emotional, chemical or physical in origin, and can lead to pain, muscle spasms, migraines, headaches, pins and needles, sciatica, lumbar pain, colic, heartburn, general stiffness, fatigue, etc. A session of Body Stress Release usually lasts around thirty minutes and takes place with the client remaining fully clothed. Using the body's own neuromuscular responses to determine sites of stored tension, these areas are then released by the Body Stress Release practitioner using a specific and directed impulse technique. This technique is safe for all - from the newborn to the elderly.

Did you know that a good night's sleep is just as affected by your posture whilst sleeping than your mental state before and during sleep.
The diagram below shows the perfect sleeping posture as well as some incorrect ones. Maybe it's time to look at your pillows or sleeping positions to see if you can help yourself in some way to get a better night's sleep!

It is amazing how many things we avoid or miss out on because of fear. It’s especially so when we are experiencing pain, anxiety, grief or trauma in any form. It makes introverts of us all. Luckily BSR can assist with all four of the above and thereby help you get outside of your comfort zone to enjoy life again!

The body is dependent on the nervous system to carry out its functions. It is thus vital that the nerves are kept free of anything that could interfere with nerve impulse transmission. Body stress may have a profound impact on the nervous system, undermining health.

: For years, 15 yr old Phil* experienced bed-wetting & lower back pain. After three BSR sessions and releases in the lumbar spine area, he had no more bladder problems. The bed-wetting recurred a year later after a bad fall at rugby but cleared after two sessions.

Effects of Lower Back Tension on Internal Organs:
An often-quoted statistic is that lower back pain will affect 80 percent of adults at some stage of their lives. However, most people are unaware that the pain is only one of the effects of tension locked into the lumbar spine. While body stress remains stored in the lower back, the pressure on the nerves may undermine, or disturb, the normal functioning of the areas and organs they supply. Thus, body stress may lead to digestive problems such as constipation or diarrhoea, bladder complaints, sexual problems, incontinence etc. A very common complaint is severe menstrual cramps and pain, which often cease when the lower back compression is released.

The Impact of body stress on the nervous system:
Body stress may occur anywhere in the body, causing lines of tension in structures like muscles, ligaments, tendons, cartilage, joints - in fact, in any tissue.
When tension becomes stored in a physical structure, the tissue is compressed, causing irritation of nerves. The functioning of the body parts or organs supplied by the nerves involved will be disturbed. For example, body stress affecting the digestive system may lead to either diarrhoea or constipation.
Body stress in the spine has the most far-reaching effects, as each spinal nerve supplies a large area of the body, both on the surface and internally. When tension locks into other areas, for example a wrist, the disturbance of nerve impulses will be more localised and limited.

If you have experienced injury or trauma recently or many years back, and are experiencing strange aches and pains, numbness or tingling in any part of your body, you might be carrying unnecessary tension in your body. Body Stress Release can help unlock the tension and restore self-healing to your aching body.
