When I’m not in the practice or training in the gym, you’ll most likely find me at the stables of Le Godimo . There’s something about spending time with horses that instantly slows life down. Riding has always been my reset button, a way to clear my mind, move with purpose, and reconnect with the simple joy of being outdoors and with my horse - Callaho Luciano.

It’s not about competition or perfection for me. It’s about the quiet moments: brushing a horse after a ride, the rhythm of his hooves on the ground, the feeling of being completely present. That time away from the clinic helps me recharge, refocus, and come back to my patients with fresh energy and a calm mind.

Everyone needs something that grounds them – for me, it just happens to have four legs and a soft muzzle. 🐴🩵💪🏽 Ashley Bond

Dry Needling vs Acupuncture – What’s the Difference?

Physiotherapy uses a technique called DRY NEEDLING and not acupuncture. They might look similar, but these two techniques are actually quite different.

Acupuncture comes from traditional Chinese medicine. It focuses on restoring the body’s energy flow, or “qi,” by placing fine needles along specific meridian points. It is often used to balance overall wellness and relieve stress, pain, or tension.

Dry Needling is a modern physiotherapy technique that targets trigger points – those tight knots in your muscles that cause pain or limit movement. The goal is to release tension, improve blood flow, and restore normal muscle function.

Both use fine needles, but the approach and intention are different. Acupuncture treats the body’s energy systems, while dry needling treats the muscles directly.

Did you know your lower back pain might actually start with your glutes?

When your glute muscles are weak, your lower back and hamstrings often step in to do the extra work, leading to tightness, strain, and eventually pain.

Strong glutes help stabilise your pelvis, support your spine, and absorb impact from everyday movement. So if your lower back has been nagging you, it might be time to give your glutes some love! 💪🏽🩵

Over the past year and a half, Ash has been an incredible source of support, guidance, and expertise. From the early days of my CrossFit journey when I thought I was going to break everything and my body’s “check engine light” was permanently on, Ash was there to keep me moving, fixing all the little niggles and teaching me how to build strength, confidence, and better posture through proper support and corrective exercises tailored to my “master athlete” joints.

Then came my darkest moment, a major injury, tendons torn and snapped, surgery, and the long road to recovery. During those tough times, when motivation was low and progress felt slow, Ash’s professionalism, care, and persistence made all the difference. From the baby weights and weekly painful physio sessions to regaining movement, strength, and confidence the improvement over the past five months has been incredible.

Even when I try to push too soon, Ash knows exactly when to rein me in and keep me focused on the bigger picture. I’m deeply grateful for the amazing effort and commitment and support you have shown me throughout my rehab journey. I can honestly say I trust you 100% with my comeback and under your guidance, I know I’ll return stronger and better than ever.

Thank you, Ash, for everything thus far in this rehab journey. -

FAQ: 'Do I need a doctor's referral to see a physio?'

Answer: No, you do not need a referral to see a physiotherapist.

Physiotherapists are first line practitioners, we are able to assess and treat pain. Based on the assessment, we can refer you for further investigations such as x-rays and sonar scans. We will refer you to a doctor or specialist if a multi-disciplinary approach is needed.

If are worried about your pain, Bond Physiotherapy can assess you and guide you 🩵💪 Ashley Bond
