Dewcare supports World Stroke Day
Raising Awareness to Save Lives
To increase awareness of one of the leading causes of death and disability, World Stroke Day is observed globally. Anyone, anywhere, at any time, can be affected by a stroke. The day serves as a reminder that early intervention can save lives, and that raising stroke awareness is critical to mitigating its global impact. Communities can significantly reduce the risk of stroke and improve outcomes for survivors by introducing proactive treatment and education.
It can save lives to recognize the warning signs of stroke. Critical symptoms can be easily remembered with the help of the FAST method:
F – Face Drooping: One side of the face may appear uneven when smiling.
A – Arm Weakness: Sudden numbness or weakness in one arm.
S – Speech Difficulty: Slurred speech or difficulty understanding others.
T – Time to Call Emergency Services: Immediate medical attention is essential.

Acting fast when these warning signs occur can minimize the damage to the brain. Immediate response, especially in the first few hours can make a huge difference.

Position: Community Nurse | Dewcare Hermanus & Surrounds

Dewcare is seeking a qualified and committed Community Nurse to join our expanding care team. This role is ideal for a dynamic professional who combines clinical competence with initiative, digital fluency, and a genuine passion for patient-centred care.



Location: Hermanus & surrounding areas
Employment Type: Fixed Term Contract with the possibility to go permanent



Key Responsibilities:

Deliver high-quality nursing care in clients’ homes and community settings
Provide clinical support and mentorship to homebased care teams
Monitor client wellbeing and escalate concerns appropriately
Maintain accurate, legally compliant documentation using digital platforms
Liaise effectively with families, medical professionals, and allied health teams
Uphold Dewcare’s ethos of dignity, clarity, and restorative care


Candidate Profile:

Registered Nurse (SANC registration essential) – with active professional indemnity cover/insurance
Valid driver’s license
Minimum 2 years’ experience in home-based or community nursing
Comfortable with digital systems and mobile documentation tools
Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Demonstrates diligence, integrity, and a deep commitment to patient wellbeing
Thrives in a dynamic, purpose-driven environment
SAPS clearance certificate and strong references will be required
