Some of the SARDA Durban volunteers had the privilege of attending Fulton School for the Deaf assembly where some of the Horse Riding learners presented an insight into their experiences of “Hippotherapy” , Therapeutic Horse Riding. Thank you for the invitation. Such a wonderful presentation. 🐴🐴🐴

SARDA Durban are very excited to share the news of a new addition to our SARDA Durban family. Meet “ SARDA CHCU Amazing Grace” (Luna).
This sweet little mare is a Coastal Horse Care Unit pony and has been adopted by SARDA Durban. She is very welcome , she will be loved by all our children and volunteers. SARDA CHCU Amazing Grace will be introduced into our Therapeutic Riding Lessons very soon. Please come and meet her. She loves carrots 🥕

🐴🐴🌻SARDA Durban (SA Riding for the Disabled Association) is looking for volunteers🌻🐴🐴

We operate out of the Summerveld Jockeys Academy, Shongweni.
We only operate during school terms and currently run sessions on Tuesday (Westpark)/ Wednesday (Fulton School) / Thursday (Browns Autistic) and Friday (Ethembeni and HOLAH) mornings.
Each session is 1 hour from 9.30-10.30 (Tuesday), 9-10am Wednesday/Thursday), with a double Friday session - 8.30-9.30am (Ethembeni) and 9.30-10.30 (HOLAH).

Volunteers must be over 16 yrs, able bodied and we ask them to be there at least 15 mins before the session starts.

We are an informal and friendly group of volunteers that have a love for children and usually, but not necessarily, horses. 🐴 Volunteers can be pony leaders or side walkers and can choose how many sessions and which days they would like to come. Most volunteers come at least once a week, but we do not insist on committing to a particular day nor frequency as we know life is busy and things change at the last minute.

A WhatsApp message goes out the day before each session and volunteers only respond if they can assist.

The childrens’ enthusiasm, as well as the horses and the beautiful surroundings, really make this a wonderful experience for both child and volunteer.
