Some days remind us just how powerful community can be. Recently, Pick n Pay St John’s stepped beyond the walls of the Lifestyle Centre and into the heart of Corrie Lynn Primary School, joining hands with the Feed the Nation Foundation to make a lasting difference in the lives of local learners.
Welcomed by the uMngeni Deputy Mayor, Councillor Sandile Mnikathi, and cheered on by teachers and staff, the initiative brought an atmosphere of hope and celebration to the school grounds. Every learner received a generously packed grocery hamper valued at over R1,000, along with new school shoes and stationery - simple essentials that mean the world to a child.
The school itself was also supported with food hampers worth R10,000 and an additional R18,000 in Pick n Pay credit to assist its feeding scheme, ensuring that the ripple effect of this day continues long after the event. Adding even more inspiration to the moment, Springbok Women rugby players Tayla Kinsey, Mary Zulu, and Lindelwa Gwala joined the visit, encouraging the learners with their presence and their stories.
To Pick n Pay St John’s, the Feed the Nation Foundation, Polyco, and every teacher and volunteer who pours into this community - thank you. Your partnership not only nourishes families but strengthens the spirit of uMngeni. At St John’s Village Lifestyle Centre, we are proud to stand alongside those who uplift, empower, and remind us what kindness in action truly looks like. Pick n Pay St. Johns
