Ozone for life. Woman and home article September 2014
When it comes to complementary medicine, Ozone Therapy has been enjoying a surge in popularity as people begin to search for preventative measures that could see them live longer, healthier lives.
If you’ve ever found yourself standing outside after a thunderstorm on the edge of the ocean breathing in deeply and feeling immediately revitalised, you’ve already experienced the effects of ozone.
What are oxidative therapies?
Colleen Faulconbridge, secretary of the Ozone Association of Southern Africa and owner of the Body Revival Institute in Johannesburg explains that Ozone is a super active form of oxygen and can be introduced into the body when small amounts are added to water.” Colleen practises the Hyperthermia application which can be defined as sweating, and creating an environment that causes the body to take in the ozone via the skin. This involves sitting in a sauna-like environment, which causes you to sweat and thereby absorb the oxygen through the skin.
What are the benefits of ozone therapy?
The benefits are said to range from anything from from boosting the immune system to treating endometriosis. Ozone was used before WW11 in Germany to effectively and cheaply sanitise municipal water as it attaches itself to pollutant particles and oxidises them, thereby neutralising them. It works in much the same way in the environment, and in your body.
What is Ozone therapy?
“Disease is caused by a lack of oxygen in an acidic environment,” explains Colleen. “Therefore, introducing oxygen into the system helps to prevent disease and can increase the efficacy of conventional treatments, like chemotherapy, by boosting the immune system.”
Ozone therapy falls under the umbrella of naturopathy, or non-invasive treatments like acupuncture that help your body to heal itself, which has made it a popular alternative for those looking to boost vitality, detox their systems and prevent disease.
Who benefits from Ozone therapy?
There are no known side effects to ozone therapy, so it could be beneficial for a wide spectrum of people including those feeling tired and lethargic or who constantly find they’re constantly catching colds and flu, to those who have been diagnosed with chronic diseases.
