Great Expectations Midwives All my love, Sarah. From the moment that I witnessed my first birth, I knew
that this was the miracle in which I would feel honoured to be a part of.

I offer home and birth unit births, I am extremely passionate about home birthing, and believe it gives an expectant mother the opportunity to birth in an emotionally supportive environment. Dear expectant parents

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you as parents, to what is probably going to be the most exciting journey of your lives. It is a time in which new parents feel their
most vulnerable and therefore an opportunity for me to
make the biggest difference. The birth of your child has a
remarkable impact on the bond that you form together
and I therefore believe in allowing parents to choose what is best for them. I studied at WITS University, and did my
community service at Rahima Moosa mother and Child
Hospital, before working as a midwife for Genesis clinic. I joined Sue King in February 2017, as her beliefs in the
natural process of labour and birth aligned perfectly with mine and
I felt that she could mentor and teach me the best, and I
now want to carry her legacy forward so that other
expectant families may still be touched by her. I worked together with Elrika until February 2022. Having a partner in the practice was an amazing and great start to private practice. I now practice on my own and I look
forward to walking this phenomenal journey with you. My beliefs are to allow a mother her own space to birth in, and to give her an opportunity to take control in labour and childbirth, but at the same time to keep her informed and ensure the safety of mother and baby at all times. I believe that a positive birth experience sets the standards for a positive family bond to be established.

This doula week, I hope you all know how truly grateful we are to you for all your love and support to both us as midwives as well as our clients!! I wish there was a way to have every client have a doula, because not everyone knows your value until they actually have you by their side in birth!! Keep up the good work! Last year the original founders of Genesis, along with a collaborative of midwives and doctors bought and renovated the much loved Genesis Clinic in Joburg๐ŸŒ€

Following positive engagement with the Department of Health and in line with the timeline given by them, we prepared with a full staff complement to launch in November of 2025 ๐Ÿ™Œ

The Department has sadly spent much of the past three months dealing with public scrutiny around the Tembisa Hospital scandal and so have not proceeded with the inspection and licensing of new facilities.

We are so sorry for all the parents who had hoped to give birth here. We are here and ready to serve as soon as the Department gives us the go ahead. We urge those who can to keep the faith and to raise their voices as we ask those in power to engage once again and complete the process of allowing us to offer the standard of family centered, safe and economic maternity care that Genesis is renowned for ๐ŸŒ€
