As we wrap up Children’s Mental Health Week, we’re proud to share our final contribution from DRM.

This week has reminded us that supporting children’s mental health is a shared responsibility — across families, schools, communities, and professional spaces. When we listen to children, validate their experiences, and create safe, affirming environments, we strengthen their resilience and wellbeing.

Thank you to SD, SEPSA, and DRM for lending your voices and expertise to this important conversation. Let’s continue to prioritise children’s mental health — not only this week, but every day.

In this edition of its newsletter, the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) shares key updates on developments within the Council. This includes the introduction of the newly appointed HPCSA President and Vice-President, an overview of the registration framework, and progress on the Council’s digital transformation initiatives.

The latest “how-to” videos are designed to guide practitioners through core regulatory processes, including the importance of keeping personal information up to date and checking CPD status to ensure compliance. The HPCSA also highlights how its self-service portal may be used to manage registration matters and log service requests where assistance is required.

💙 Children’s Mental Health Week

As part of our Children’s Mental Health Week series, PsySSA continues to amplify divisional voices committed to advancing children’s wellbeing across South Africa.

Today, we share a contribution from the Student Division (SD), spotlighting organisations across the country that are doing vital work to support children’s emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing. From national helplines to community-based initiatives, these organisations are helping to create safe, supportive environments where children can thrive.

We invite students, practitioners, and community members to engage with these resources, share them widely, and support their work in strengthening children’s mental health.

💙 Children’s Mental Health Week

This week, PsySSA is sharing reflections from our Divisions on the realities facing children’s mental health in South Africa. Throughout the week, we’ll be posting contributions from DRM, SEPSA, and SD, offering diverse perspectives on care, context, and responsibility.

Today, we open the series with a contribution from SEPSA, inviting us to reflect critically on the growing mental health challenges facing children and the intersecting roles of home, school, and peer environments.
