doTERRA Healing Hands is all about empowering people, particularly those in our sourcing areas.
In Tanzania, ginger farmers need a place to store their crops after the harvest until they’re ready to sell. While this may seem like a small problem, having a place to store ginger provides a variety of benefits to the farmers—including bargaining power in the sales process. If the farmers don’t have to sell their ginger immediately, they can wait until they receive a reasonable offer instead of sell at whatever price is offered at the time of harvest.
doTERRA Europe—using funds raised through the proceeds of doTERRA spa Rose Hand Lotion in their market—donated to build a ginger collection center in Tanzania. The building is nearly finished and will be ready for the ginger harvest this month. It’ll benefit the more than 500 small-scale farmers doTERRA Co-Impact Sourcing works with in the region through our sourcing partner.
Once the building is finished, the ginger farmer cooperative will also be able to use the building to educate farmers, improving farming practices and providing additional opportunities to farmers and their families.
