Today SADAG participated in a workshop for Trucking Wellness, an initiative of the National Bargaining Council for the Road Freight & Logistics Industry (NBCRFLI).
Clinical Psychologist, Chris Kemp spoke to the various Healthcare Workers who work for this organisation on the signs and symptoms of Depression, and how to better assist their workers.

SADAG had a wellness stand at the event which was manned by dedicated counsellors who engaged with participants and provided them with information as to who SADAG is and how we can help support them.

Just because it seems that the worst of the Covid-19 pandemic has eased, it does not mean that healthcare workers are off the hook. Studies show that those on the frontlines are still dealing with burnout and depression at alarmingly high rates. There is a Mental Health pandemic that is quickly spreading. If our healthcare workers’ mental health is not prioritized, we risk being worse prepared for the next wave of Covid-19 or another global crisis. Burnout affects everybody, even more so in the current socioeconomic climate. Healthcare Workers Care Network (HWCN) will be hosting a valuable CPD webinar on burnout and the next steps on 12 October at 19:00. The webinar is free to join and will include expert speaker and coach Judy Klipin who will be presenting on Beyond Burnout, as well as Dr Tshepile Tlali, a doctor who has lived experience with burnout. Psychiatrist Dr Antoinette Miric, one of the founding members of the Network, will be presenting on updates and future goals, and there will be a panel discussion by these experts as well. Calls to our 0800 212121 number are free from any landline or cellphone number.
24-hour SMS line (43001) – if someone sends an SMS, a counsellor will call them back to provide support and help.
