AMD stands for Age-related Macular Degeneration, a common eye condition that affects central vision.

There are different types of AMD:

Dry AMD (most common):
👁️Macula thins over time
👁️Small deposits called drusen form
👁️Vision changes slowly

Wet AMD (less common but more serious):
👁️Abnormal blood vessels leak under the retina
👁️Can cause faster and more severe vision loss

Common Symptoms:
⚠️Blurry central vision
⚠️Straight lines looking wavy
⚠️Difficulty reading
⚠️Dark or empty spots in the centre of vision

There is no cure, but treatment can help slow the progression. Regular eye exams are vital for early detection.

While eyelashes generally regrow on their own, there are steps you can take to support the process and encourage stronger, healthier lashes:

✨Eat a nutrient-rich diet. Include foods high in biotin, vitamins A, C, and E, and omega-3 fatty acids, which support healthy hair growth - including your eyelashes.

✨Be gentle with eye makeup. Avoid harsh rubbing when removing mascara or eyeliner. Use oil-free, gentle cleansers to protect the delicate lash follicles.

✨Limit lash extensions & mascara use. Taking breaks from heavy mascara and frequent lash extensions can help prevent breakage and reduce stress on the follicles.

✨Consider a lash growth serum. Peptide-based serums may help nourish lashes and support thicker, stronger regrowth.

⚔️How it started:

It was a long debate - almost a turf war, about which raised-dot writing system should become the standard for blind education. This became known as the War of the Dots.

The two major systems:
Braille, invented by Louis Braille, that uses the 6-dot cell system we use today.

New York Point (NYP), invented by William Bell Wait, which used a different dot arrangement. It took up slightly less space, but was harder to read and lacked capitalisation

🏳️How it ended:
By the early 1900s, it became clear that Braille was easier to learn and could represent music and math better.

In 1916, the United States officially adopted Braille as the national standard.
This effectively ended the War of the Dots.

Refractive errors, such as myopia (near-sightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism, are common vision problems that require correction. Traditionally, eyeglasses and conventional contact lenses have been the go-to solutions, but daily disposable lenses have revolutionised the way we approach vision correction.

These lenses are designed to be worn for a single day and then discarded, eliminating the need for extensive cleaning and disinfecting routines. By providing a fresh, sterile lens every day, daily disposables significantly reduce the risk of eye infections and complications associated with lens wear.

Did you know that besides language, Braille can also convey music information?

🎶 Notes
Each musical note (A–G) has its own Braille symbol.
These symbols also incorporate octave information so the musician knows which pitch to play.

⏱️ Rhythm
Rhythmic values (whole, half, quarter, eighth notes, etc.) are shown using rhythm signs that come before the note.

🎹 Octaves
Because Braille is read in a straight line, octave marks are crucial.
An octave sign usually appears before a sequence of notes to show where the pitch starts.

🎶 Key Signatures & Accidentals
Key signatures and accidentals (♯, ♭, ♮) have dedicated symbols too.

Unlike print music, which is read visually from top to bottom, Music Braille is read one musical line at a time.
Musicians often memorise the line before playing, because you usually can’t read Braille with your hands and play an instrument at the same time.

🎤 Real-World Example
A pianist learning a piece in Music Braille might learn:
Right-hand line (in Braille)
Left-hand line
Combine from memory at the piano
