🐾❤️ Support the Ekapa Relief Fund – Helping Families & Their Pets ❤️🐾

The Ekapa Relief Fund is reaching out to support not only animals, but also the people who care for them. Many families are struggling, and together we can make a real difference.

💛 How you can help:

• Financial donations (any amount helps)
• Dog and cat food (dry or wet food welcome)

Your kindness will help provide meals, care, and relief to both humans and their beloved pets during difficult times.

🐶🐱👨‍👩‍👧 No one should have to choose between feeding themselves or their animals.

📩 To donate or learn more, please contact us directly.

🙏 Thank you for standing with our community and making hope possible.

🐾 World Stray Animals Day – April 4 🐾

Kimberley SPCA / DBV Every year on April 4, we observe World Stray Animals Day—a day dedicated to raising awareness about the millions of stray animals living on the streets and the challenges they face daily.

These animals often struggle with hunger, injury, disease, and lack of shelter. But with compassion and small actions, we can make a big difference in their lives. ❤️

🐶 How you can help:

* Provide food and clean water where possible
* Support or volunteer at local shelters and rescue groups
* Adopt, don’t shop – give a stray a loving home
* Sterilize your pets to prevent unwanted litters
* Report injured or abused animals to local authorities

💉 Why it matters:
Vaccination (especially against rabies) and sterilization are key to controlling stray populations and protecting both animals and communities.

Let’s work together to give every animal the care, dignity, and love they deserve. 🐾

🍂🐾 Autumn Adventures Are Better When They’re Safe! 🐾🍂

Crisp air, crunchy leaves, and cozy cuddles — autumn is a beautiful season for you and your pets. But as the seasons change, so do some hidden hazards! Here are a few paw-some tips to keep your furry friends safe this fall:

🍁 Watch the Leaves
Leaf piles can hide sharp objects, mold, or even creepy crawlies. Fun to jump in? Yes. Safe to snack on? Definitely not!

🌰 Mind the Mushrooms
Autumn rain = mushroom season. Some varieties are highly toxic to pets, so keep an eye out on walks and in your garden.

🕯️ Candles & Heaters
As the weather cools, we light candles and switch on heaters. Curious tails and whiskers can easily get too close — always supervise.

🐜 Parasites Don’t Take a Break
Fleas and ticks are still active in autumn. Keep up with preventatives even when temperatures drop.

🌙 Shorter Days = Lower Visibility
With darker mornings and evenings, reflective collars or leads help keep your pet visible and safe on walks.

Autumn is all about cozy moments and outdoor fun — let’s keep it safe and stress-free for every wag and whisker! 🍂❤️

If you’re unsure about seasonal risks or need to stock up on preventatives, pop in and chat with our team. We’re always happy to help! 🐶🐱

🐾 Pet Myth Busting! 🐾
Let’s separate fact from fiction when it comes to our furry family members 👇

🦷 1️⃣ “A Dog’s Mouth is Cleaner Than a Human’s”
❌ False - Dogs explore the world with their mouths — sniffing, licking, and chewing just about everything! Their mouths contain plenty of bacteria, just like ours (just different kinds).

🐕 2️⃣ “1 Human Year Equals 7 Dog Years”
❌ False - Aging depends on breed, size, and species. Large breeds age faster than small breeds, especially in their early years. There’s no simple 7-year formula!

🐕‍🦺 3️⃣ “Tail Wagging Means a Dog is Happy”
❌ False - Tail wagging signals emotional arousal — which could mean excitement, fear, anxiety, or even aggression. Always look at the whole body language.

🐱 4️⃣ “Cats Always Land on Their Feet”
❌ False - Cats have an incredible righting reflex, but they can still be seriously injured from falls. High-rise syndrome is very real.

🐾 5️⃣ “Pets Need One Litter Before Spaying/Neutering”
❌ False - This is outdated advice with no scientific backing. Spaying or neutering at the appropriate age can reduce health risks and unwanted litters.

🎨 6️⃣ “Dogs Are Color Blind”
❌ False - Dogs don’t just see in black and white. They see blues and yellows, but reds and greens appear more muted.

✨ The more we know, the better we care!
