Kimberley SPCA / DBV Every year on April 4, we observe World Stray Animals Day—a day dedicated to raising awareness about the millions of stray animals living on the streets and the challenges they face daily.

These animals often struggle with hunger, injury, disease, and lack of shelter. But with compassion and small actions, we can make a big difference in their lives. ❤️

🐶 How you can help:

* Provide food and clean water where possible
* Support or volunteer at local shelters and rescue groups
* Adopt, don’t shop – give a stray a loving home
* Sterilize your pets to prevent unwanted litters
* Report injured or abused animals to local authorities

💉 Why it matters:
Vaccination (especially against rabies) and sterilization are key to controlling stray populations and protecting both animals and communities.

Autumn rain = mushroom season. Some varieties are highly toxic to pets, so keep an eye out on walks and in your garden.

❌ False - Dogs explore the world with their mouths — sniffing, licking, and chewing just about everything! Their mouths contain plenty of bacteria, just like ours (just different kinds).

🐕 2️⃣ “1 Human Year Equals 7 Dog Years”
❌ False - Aging depends on breed, size, and species. Large breeds age faster than small breeds, especially in their early years. There’s no simple 7-year formula!

🐕‍🦺 3️⃣ “Tail Wagging Means a Dog is Happy”
❌ False - Tail wagging signals emotional arousal — which could mean excitement, fear, anxiety, or even aggression. Always look at the whole body language.
