Working in a government hospital one often struggles with the question regarding the value of a life. We are even taught on the ethical principal of distributive justice. But certainly there cant be monetary value to a life. At crossroads such as these, where therapy cant be accessed due to the province or country you are born in you learn that life on planet earth does not hold equal value everywhere. Healthcare is a human right but countless variables determine the services you can access. And sometimes it feels that life is worth less than R150,000.
🚨 URGENT: Help Save Kgosi’s Life 🚨
Meet Kgosi, a bright and bubbly 4-year-old who dreams of becoming a pilot one day. He loves toy cars, flying games, and making everyone around him smile.
But behind that smile is an incredibly tough journey — Kgosi has spent nearly three years in treatment for leukemia. Just when his family hoped for a new chapter, the cancer came back.
Now, he urgently needs a life-saving chemotherapy drug called Erwinase, which isn’t available through public hospitals and costs R150,000. Without it, Kgosi’s chances of survival are heartbreakingly slim.
🎗️ As we approach Cancer Survivors Month (June), let’s rally around Kgosi and give him the fighting chance he deserves.
