Today, I was reminded once again why knowledge matters so deeply in our profession.
In this video, you will see a woman who has just been fitted with bone conduction spectacles. Moments after the fitting, she breaks down in tears β not out of sadness, but because she can finally hear after years of being told that nothing more could be done for her.
Her story is not unique. Many individuals with conductive, mixed, or single-sided deafness are often left without solutions, not because technology does not exist, but because awareness of these innovations is still limited.
As audiologists, we have a responsibility to stay informed, to grow with technology, and to expand our toolkit so that no patient is left without options.
In this era of rapid advancement, we truly have no excuse for not knowing what is available to help those we serve.
This moment reminded me that when knowledge meets compassion, lives change.
And today, Her life changed π«Άπ«Άπ«Ά
