This is an excellent info graphic, which effectively summarises the effects that a big belly or having excessive stomach fat has on the spine and lower back pain.
🫃🏻 Most of the time, a bulging belly is an indicator of having poor core body strength rather than extra body fat!
🫃🏻If the core of the body is weak, it may lead to visible signs such as exaggerated arching of the lower back seen as a "deep ditch of the lower back curve" and abnormal forward tilting of the pelvis seen as "sticking out of the buttocks".
🫃🏻 In turn, this can cause severe pain in the lower back and buttock region, which may also run down into the thighs and knees.
🫃🏻A big belly can predispose one to develop many spinal disorders such 'pinched nerves' and disc herniations which lead to sciatica, sprains and strains, lumbar facet syndrome and more.
