TINY BABIES, BIGGER COURAGE AS MPH CELEBRATES PREMATURITY DAY

Mahikeng Provincial Hospital hosted a heartfelt purple-filled Prematurity Day event today to honour the tiniest warriors in our care. Acting CEO Dr. Holonga, drawing from his vast clinical experience and deep commitment to prematurity care, opened the programme and set a tone of compassion, courage and hope for all in attendance.

Dr. Titus followed with a message that reminded everyone why he is regarded as the steady heartbeat of the unit that keeps mothers and their little fighters safe, nurtured and thriving. The programme continued with valuable insights from our Dietician, Milk Bank Specialist and dedicated nursing team whose shared experiences highlighted the strength behind neonatal care.

A touching highlight of the day was the presence of mothers and their babies - some born here recently, others who once arrived in our corridors too soon but now stand tall, strong and full of life. Their heartfelt stories of raising preemie babies brought warmth, gratitude and inspiration to the room, reminding everyone of the power of resilience.

As tokens of love and support, gifts were presented to the mothers, celebrating both their strength and the resilience of their little ones.

The day ended with a moment of sweetness as everyone enjoyed cake - a gentle reminder that just like a tiny slice can fill the heart with joy, the smallest of babies too can carry the biggest and bravest hearts.
