In this thoughtful piece, Dr Lauren O'Brien reflects on her own losses, practice, and learning after completing the PatchSA 9-month Comprehensive Course on Paediatric Pallaitive Care in 2025. She writes: "Palliative Care Doctors can learn all the skills and correct way of doing things which has been wonderful to learn. But if you don’t have the soft skills of compassion and empathy, or lack the intention to do better, you do your patients a disservice."

As 2025 draws to a close, we pause with deep gratitude to thank our incredible community — our donors, volunteers, partners, families, and supporters — who have stood with Nelspruit Hospice throughout the year.

What a wonderful way to round off the year! 🎄♥️

We had a truly special year-end brunch with our beloved elderly members, sharing stories of the past year and excitement for the festive season ahead. Nelspruit Hospice Wellness Day is always a highlight, giving us the opportunity to connect with our cherished extended family and hear about their lives. 🥳
