π World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (18β24 November) ππ¦
This week, we join the global campaign to raise awareness about the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) β when bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites no longer respond to medicines designed to kill them.
π΅ Why it matters:
AMR puts us all at risk. Common infections become harder to treat, medical procedures become more dangerous, and lives are lost every day due to drug-resistant infections.
π’ How YOU can help:
β¨ Only use antibiotics when prescribed by a qualified healthcare professional
β¨ Never demand antibiotics for viral infections like flu or colds
β¨ Always complete your full course of treatment
β¨ Never share or use leftover antibiotics
β¨ Practice good hygiene to prevent infections in the first place
π This yearβs theme: βPreventing antimicrobial resistance together.β
We all have a role to play β healthcare workers, policymakers, communities, and individuals.
Letβs protect the medicines that protect us.
