Some goodbyes are holy ground.
This one is.
Watching you step into this next chapter has me in tears—not from loss, but from the weight of everything that has been. The years, the horses, the discipline, the becoming. Few people your age carry themselves with this much gratitude, humility, and clarity.
What you achieved in the arena wasn’t accidental. It was earned—through consistency, courage, and a deep respect for the animals who carried you there. That bond never disappears. It simply changes form.
I am so proud of you for listening when God said now. This is not the end of who you are—it’s the expansion of it. Hilton College is gaining a young man who understands discipline, responsibility, and the cost of excellence.
And while the boots may be hung up for now, know this: I’ll still be walking alongside you—ensuring your body stays aligned, supported, and resilient as you take on new physical demands. Athletes change codes; the body still needs care.
Thank you for trusting me with a small part of your journey.
Thank you for loving your horses the way you do.
And thank you for reminding all of us that growth sometimes asks us to let go—without forgetting.
Go well.
Run hard.
Stay grounded.
This is not goodbye. It’s see you differently.
Announcement – Hilton College Rugby Scholarship
It’s a bittersweet month for me as I hang up my boots and begin an exciting new chapter — completing my schooling and pursuing a fresh challenge in rugby at Hilton College.
I feel incredibly blessed for the past almost 10 years of my showjumping career.
I’ve partnered with exceptional ponies and horses who taught me so much and to whom I owe every success.
I’ve also had the honour of representing prestigious brands who trusted me to carry their names with professionalism — something I’ve never taken for granted.
Thank you for your loyalty, encouragement, and belief in me.
Representing my country in the Green & Gold Protea colours, competing for Team Gauteng six times on five different horses, winning both national and series titles, sharing podiums with remarkable athletes, and topping national rankings in two categories at the highest junior levels — these are memories I will cherish forever.
At just 16, after three years competing and placing at the very top of the Junior Open division, I step away feeling proud, humbled, and deeply grateful.
A special thank you to Chad — a kinder, humbler, and more professional coach and role model you will never find. You deserve as much credit as I do. You’ve changed my life, and I’m proud to have been coached by you.
To my incredible equestrian team: it truly takes a village. Your dedication, care, and belief made my dreams possible. I’ll miss seeing you every day — you are family to me.
Being scouted for a Rugby Scholarship at Hilton College is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I’m excited and honoured to attend such a prestigious school and compete in top-tier schoolboy rugby. You never know what you’re capable of until you try.
I can ride well into my seventies if I choose — but I can’t start chasing a rugby career later and expect to make an impact. I’ve turned this opportunity down before, but I know the time is now.
To everyone who supported me through the highs and lows of this demanding sport — thank you. Your encouragement meant more than words can express. The memories will stay with me forever.
Thank you to my family & my grooms for supporting my decision and being there for me through the tears and heartache.
And finally, to my horses.
I loved you long before I loved the sport. You shaped me, taught me, and gave me more than I could ever repay. Letting go has been the hardest decision of my life, but I trust God’s plan. The bond between horse and rider is a love few understand — and I carry that with me always.
Thank you. It’s been a privilege and an honour.
