Job description
Operational role within the Western Cape CDU Inventory team. Reports daily to the Inventory Supervisor; collaborates closely with Receiving, Production, QA and Dispatch teams.
Supports daily warehouse receiving and distribution activities by accurately logging inventory transactions, storing and replenishing stock using FIFO/FEFO, conducting cycle counts and reconciliations and ensuring compliance with company SOPs, safety protocols and CDU SLAs.
Key responsibilities
• Receive incoming stock and route to the correct area within the 2-day SLA
• Safely and correctly store stock; replenish picking locations following FIFO and FEFO
• Bulk pick from pick lists and support emergency picks for Production / Pre-dispensing
• Accurately log all inventory transactions and update stock systems on time
• Perform cycle counts, unplanned counts and participate in annual stock takes; reconcile variances
• Verify expiry dates and escalate any variances or near-expiry stock to the supervisor
• File and process stock orders from Production; update documentation and invoices as required
• Operate pallet jack (and forklift if trained/qualified where applicable)
• Maintain excellent housekeeping and adherence to safety and security procedures
• Report errors, damages or discrepancies accurately and promptly
• Attend and actively participate in daily/weekly team meetings
• Follow time attendance and other HR policies
Minimum qualifications
• Learner Post Basic / Qualified Basic / Learner Basic Assistant
• Grade 12 (Matric) preferred
Ideal qualifications
• Certificate/Diploma in Warehouse or Stock Management (or studying towards this)
• Forklift or pallet jack operator certification (advantageous)
• Minimum 1 to 2 years’ experience in warehousing, stock control, replenishment or related environment
• Experience with stock systems and cycle counting is advantageous
• Licensing and accreditation
• Registered at SAPC (where applicable)
Skills and competencies
• Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy (ability to calculate weights, volumes and dimensions)
• Critical thinking and problem solving; able to devise and adjust plans
• Ability to prioritise and manage a large workload
• Ability to accept and lead projects at short notice
• Willingness to work overtime during peak/high-pressure periods
• Must adhere to company policies, SOPs and safety regulations at all times
