Midstream Eye/Dr R Dayaram Dr R Dayaram is a fellow in Ophthalmology practicing in the Midstream area. We also have access to overnight facilities if required postoperatively.

Midstream Eye is an independently managed full-time Ophthalmology practice conveniently situated in the upmarket secure Midstream Estate. We offer in-house comprehensive healthcare for all types of eye-related medical conditions from itchy eyes to cataract surgery in conjunction with our on-site partners Cure Day Clinic Midstream. Our theatre facilities are based on-site and are easily accessable for elderly and disabled patients 20 metres away from our rooms. At Midstream Eye, we place our patient’s needs first by offering extended duration consultations if required and flexible consultation times.or even those got to get to work in 15 minutes consultations. Our supporting staff is highly trained in management of all eye conditions with many years of eye-centred care in the Pretoria region. Dr R Dayaram attained his bachelor’s degrees in medicine and surgery from the University of Pretoria in 2005. He then completed his internship at the Piet Retief Hospital in 2006. His community service year was spent in Emalahleni (Witbank) where he spent as much time as he could in the surgical department. He worked as a medical officer in the surgical department for a year awaiting a position as a medical officer in the Ophthalmology department. Dr Dayaram underwent intensive and thorough Ophthalmic registrar training in the University of Witwatersrand registrar circuit. Here he spent most of his time at St John Eye Hospital, but also rotated through Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital, Helen Joseph Hospital and Lenasia South Community health centre. Dr Dayaram attained his fellowship in Ophthalmology when he passed his FC Ophth(SA) examination in 2015. He then elected to pursue private practice in the Midstream region. Dr Dayaram manages the following aspects of Ophthalmology:
• Orbital pathology such as Thyroid related eye conditions
• Dry Eyes and Eyelid related conditions
• Keratoconus and other corneal pathology
• Uveitis and other intraocular inflammation
• Cataracts
• Strabismus/squint and paediatric conditions
• Age related macular degeneration, Diabetic, Hypertensive
retinopathy and other retinal conditions
• Glaucoma
• Trauma to the eye

A significant milestone was reached at Cure Day Hospitals Midstream when Dr R. Dayaram, Ophthalmologist at Midstream Eye, performed the facility’s first pars plana vitrectomy (PPV).

The procedure was life-changing for Mrs S. Muller, restoring vision and independence. This achievement was supported by a dedicated hospital team whose coordinated, compassionate care ensured a safe and reassuring experience.
