Today is World AIDS Day, a day to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS, commemorate those who lost their fight and remember to support those who are currently fighting.

Alongside your ARV regimen, regular exercise and a balanced diet are necessary to ensure those with HIV stay healthy. Those with HIV should do regular moderate exercise to encourage muscle mass, mood and endurance, as well as improving immune function.

Exercise is important for everyone.

Don’t grab a bag of crisps or something sweet, try this quick, healthy snack, chock full of healthy fats and protein. Great for keeping you full, improving brain function and rich in omega 6 and potassium.

It’s super simple, just peel a banana, slice it in half, longways down the middle, and then put some of your choice of nut butter in between the two halves. Eat it like a sandwich for a quick, yummy snack.
My favourite is the Buttanut, Honey Almond butter squeeze pack.

Working at a desk can really play havoc on the body, and making time for regular exercise may be challenging too. That’s why I’ve put together a few micro workouts you can do while you’re at work, so you can get a little exercise and a slight flush of endorphins which will wake you up and keep you productive.

These exercises may have your colleagues talking as you may look a little odd doing them in the breakroom or at your desk but what is your health worth to you? Besides, once they see how easy they are, they’ll want to do them too!

These teeny micro workouts are more powerful than you might expect and doing them regularly will offer great results.

How nutrition can help your mental wellness: foods that support mood, stress, calm, sleep. Also, mindful eating rituals (slowing down, paying attention while eating) rather than eating in a rush. Did you know that food can affect your mental wellness?

The unique nutrients and vitamins in food can affect your mental wellbeing in various ways. Certain foods are great for improving mood, whilst others are great at helping you destress. This is because some foods are a good source of antioxidants which boost mood and others contain cortisol lowering compounds which calm you down, for example.

Eating a balanced diet is necessary for overall mental and physical wellness, but some foods can be used as medicine to treat particular ailments.

Both are essential to ensure a good healthy body and mind. Rest days should happen once a week and active recovery should be done as needed, ideally after a high intensity workout.

Rest days are when you are completely inactive and you do no exercise at all.
⭐This allows your body to fully recover from exercise
⭐Allows muscles the chance to repair and rebuild
⭐Gives the body and mind a total break

Active recovery is when you are doing low intensity movement in between high intensity workouts.
⭐This promotes blood flow
⭐Releases lactic acid
⭐Reduces muscle soreness
⭐Improves flexibility

This annual event held by the World Health Organisation aims to encourage progress toward the goal of eliminating cervical cancer as a public health concern.
Today is a day for celebrating those who won their fights with cervical cancer and commemorating those who lost.

Cervical cancer develops in the cervix and can be caused by Human Papilloma Virus infection and can have symptoms like unusual bleeding and discharge, pain during intimacy, or no symptoms at all. Regular pap smears and HPV tests can result in life saving early detection.

Please book a pap smear today and consider an HPV vaccine which may lessen your risk of getting cervical cancer, and of course, HPV.
Look after yourself and get regular check ups so you know what’s going on with your body.

I have a challenge for you! This month’s challenge is doing a 2 minute plank, every day, for 30 days!
It will be difficult at first, but you’ll build up core strength over time and eventually you’ll realise you can easily manage two minutes!

The consistency initially is often the most difficult part, so try setting an alarm to remind you!

If you start today, this challenge will end on the 13th of December. I believe in you!
