We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Nelson Mandela Childrens Fund for their continued support and partnership in preventing gender-based violence and strengthening child protection. Their belief in our work enables us to walk alongside children and families affected by grief, trauma, and violence with compassion, dignity, and care, reinforcing our shared commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children.

This Christmas, we hold space for children, families, and communities navigating the season while carrying loss. May this time bring moments of comfort, gentle reflection, and connection. We thank our partners, supporters, and community for standing with us throughout the year and wish you peace and warmth during the festive season.

The holiday season can be especially difficult for those grieving the loss of a loved one. It is important to honour your feelings, allow space for memories, and remember that it is acceptable to experience both sadness and moments of peace during this time.

Our team recently came together for a year-end getaway focused on strategic planning and strengthening collaboration. It was a valuable opportunity for staff to reconnect, align on our shared vision, and reflect on the year behind us. These conversations have helped us prepare thoughtfully for the year ahead, as we continue to support the children, families, and communities we serve.

Four of our Girl Power participants attended the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund Digital Justice Summit, where they were exposed to important conversations about online safety, rights, and responsible digital citizenship. It was a valuable opportunity for the girls to learn, engage, and feel empowered as young voices in a digital world, reinforcing confidence, awareness, and leadership.

We recently attended a meaningful police engagement event in Delft represented by Lira, our Programme Manager, where important conversations around grief, trauma, and community support took place. These engagements strengthen partnerships and ensure that grief support remains visible, accessible, and rooted in community needs.

Our offices are closed for the season and will be reopening on 12 January 2026. During this time, we encourage our community to take care of themselves, lean on trusted support systems, and reflect gently on the year that has passed. We look forward to reconnecting and continuing our work of healing and hope in the new year.

Our Girl Power participants had an exciting learning experience at the Nelson Mandela Childrens Fund Digital Justice Summit. They observed a Moot Court, explored a courtroom setup, and tried on judicial robes, giving them a real feel of the justice system. The girls also received practical lessons on digital justice, online safety, and why it’s important to read Terms & Conditions before clicking. We are proud of their enthusiasm and curiosity throughout the day.

We are excited to share that Khululeka has been selected as part of the new grantee cohort to continue our partnership with the Born This Way Foundation as we deepen our grief support and GBV prevention work with vulnerable children and adolescents.
Thank you to the Kindness in Community team for believing in the importance of this work as we support young people on their healing journeys.

We are honoured to be part of the Nelson Mandela Childrens Fund Digital Justice Summit taking place at Stellenbosch University from Saturday through Wednesday. The summit has gathered organisations and inspiring speakers from across South Africa to engage on important topics around digital justice and online safety. The Moot Court sessions offered rich insight, and the children took part in activities designed to build their confidence and awareness in navigating the online world safely. Our Girl Power participants joined the summit with two Khululeka chaperones, and we are grateful for the opportunity to learn, connect, and contribute to this meaningful and impactful event.
