Conscious Connected Breathwork works directly on the nervous system, emotional body, and stored somatic memories. It allows a holistic release that talking therapy often cannot reach.
The guided breathing pattern increases oxygen saturation and reduces CO₂ in the body for short periods. This shifts the sympathetic system but also brings the brain into altered states similar to deep meditation or dreaming.
In this state, the prefrontal cortex relaxes, the limbic system activates, and the body feels safer to bring suppressed emotions to the surface.
Tetany is a temporary, involuntary contraction or tingling caused by low CO₂ levels from fast, intense breathing, often experienced in the hands, feet, or face during CCB. Low CO₂ changes blood pH (temporary alkalosis), which affects calcium levels around the nerves and causes them to “fire” more easily.
Tetany is uncomfortable but not harmful and can feel like:
* Tight “claw hands”
* Tingling around the mouth
* Tingling or pins-and-needles in extremities
* Tightness in the limbs, chest or jaw
A cathartic experience is a deep emotional release—a purging or expression of something you have held in for a long time.
In CCB this may show up as:
* Sobbing or crying
* Laughter
* Shouting or primal sounds
* Shaking or trembling
* Physical movements (arching, curling, stretching)
* Emotional visions or memories
* Waves of heat, cold, or energy
Breathwork takes the body into a state where trauma and emotions suppressed in the body’s tissues can finally move.
The emotional release is not “forced”—it is a completion of an unfinished stress response.
I provide a safe, gentle and supportive space for these physical and emotional releases, while guiding you through the CCB process using music, encouraging cues, sounds, somatic therapy & reiki.
