About Aromatherapy Massage
Aromatherapy is an ancient healing art, using the essential oils of aromatic flowers, plants and trees to promote health of body and serenity of mind. The essential oils provide an effective remedy for a host of ailments, viz. muscular injuries; blood, bone and joint pathology; bacterial and viral infections; nervous, hormonal and skin disorders; respiratory and digestive ailments; stress, anxiety and depression.
The oils are used in Aromatherapy Massage and also in burners, baths and compresses. They act on the limbic and olfactory systems and are absorbed directly into the blood. Aromatherapy massage is a gentle, relaxing treatment, which incorporates various forms of massage, eg. Ayurvedic (Indian), Acupressure (Traditional Chinese), Swedish, Deep Tissue, Reflexology, Shiatsu, Hot Stone and Lymphatic Drainage.
Holistic healing is concerned with addressing the causes and prevention of illness, rather than merely quelling symptoms. The focus is on taking responsibility for our own health. For lasting benefits, Aromatherapy should complement a healthy diet and lifestyle. It forms a useful adjunct to other forms of alternative modalities and orthodox medicine. It is safe and beneficial for all ages and conditions, from tiny babies to the elderly and infirm.
