ONE SIZE DOES NOT FIT ALL. People don’t lose weight the same way. Each person has their own journey. We need to consider each person differently due to various factors that is involved in weight management.

People respond very differently to calories, exercise, fasting, fatigue, etc. Hunger is also experienced very personally and with great variability.

Current research is uncovering, that we can use genetics to determine which type of diet an individual should use to lose weight and also what type of exercise will have the most positive effect on weight loss. Genetic information also helps to identify which patients will be resistant to weight loss and which ones will be in danger of regaining weight that they have lost.
 
Research has shown that individuals on diets appropriate for their genetic makeup achieved statistically significant average weight loss of 6.2% of body weight at one year, compared to individuals not on a diet matched to genetics (i.e. the latter only lost 2.4% of body weight in 24 months).

Knowing your genes is useful, because now you can do something about it, so the real strength of genetic testing lies in the intervention then taken. For example; do you increase or decrease your dietary carbs, fats or proteins, do you increase fibre in your diet for purposes of satiety, do you work on the balance of your brain chemicals to reduce your reward seeking behaviour, to attain the maximum bang for your buck.
