Nurture Health is proud to recognise Dr Irshaad Hayat, our Clinical Quality Manager, on being awarded the ISQua (International Society for Quality in Health Care) Fellowship. This is one of the highest international honours in healthcare quality and patient safety.
Only three individuals in South Africa hold this Fellowship, and we are honoured to have one of them leading quality and governance across our network of care.

This Fellowship enhances our ability to:
• Apply international best practices in safety and clinical governance
• Ensure every audit and decision meets globally recognised standards
• Deliver more reliable and consistent patient outcomes

It is another step forward in our commitment to high-quality, evidence-based care.
“This Fellowship equips me to lead change with purpose, backed by international frameworks and aligned with what matters most safe and effective care for every patient.” – Dr Hayat

Wondering how care at Nurture Health is covered? Here’s what you need to know.

Navigating recovery after hospital discharge is overwhelming enough. That’s why we work directly with major medical schemes, managed care organisations, and funders like COIDA and RAF to cover care — so families can focus on healing, not paperwork.

If you or a loved one needs post-acute rehabilitation, here’s how costs are typically covered:

○ Medical Schemes (with prior approval)
○ Work or accident-related injuries via COIDA or RAF
○ Case-managed referrals through trusted partners
○ Private/self-pay options are also available

Our team helps guide you through the process — compassionately, transparently, and efficiently. Because everyone deserves a Better Tomorrow.

The best part of recovery? Knowing you’re ready to go home — safely and confidently.

Our Orthopaedic Programme helps patients rebuild strength and independence after surgery or injury — with the care and guidance of a full rehabilitation team.

Mr Joubert shared his experience Nurture Health:

“They helped me walk again and made sure I was confident before going home — I felt truly ready.”

Every step towards home is a Better Tomorrow...

At Nurture Health, we specialise in post-acute and integrated care – helping people rebuild their lives after serious illness, injury, or surgery.

Our hospitals provide:
• Specialised rehabilitation (stroke, brain injury, spinal cord, orthopaedic, and more)
• Sub-acute and post-acute care for patients who no longer need full acute hospital support but still require medical oversight and therapeutic intervention.
• Interdisciplinary rehabilitation with doctors, nurses, therapists, and social workers working together as one team
• Ventilation rehabilitation, in selected facilities
• Smooth transitions home, with caregiver training, discharge planning, and case management

We aim for Better Tomorrows by working together to ensure that we provide the best possible care.

By integrating multiple disciplines into one patient-centred model, we create better tomorrows—helping people regain independence, dignity, and quality of life.

Understanding Strokes: A Step Toward Better Tomorrows

A stroke remains one of the leading causes of disability, affecting not only those who experience it but also the families who walk the recovery journey alongside them.

At Nurture Health, we see the real impact every day as we witness the uncertainty, the courage, and the hope that define each person’s path to recovery.

As we close off Neuro Week, we are shedding light on strokes, exploring how to recognise them early, what recovery can look like, and how integrated and compassionate care can make a lasting difference.

A Journey of Determination and Healing: Mrs S’s Story

When Mrs S was admitted to Nurture Health on 8 April, she faced an immense challenge — her left side was immobile following a stroke.
But she arrived with something far stronger than her diagnosis: determination.

Through the support of our interdisciplinary team — physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, doctors, dieticians, speech therapists, psychologists, and social workers — and her unwavering will to recover, Mrs S began her journey from immobility to independence.
Over the weeks, small movements became steps, and steps became strides.

On 3 June, Mrs S walked out of Nurture Health — with a smile that said everything about courage, perseverance, and hope.

Her story reminds us that with the right care, the right team, and the right mindset, better tomorrows are possible.

Every step forward matters.

That’s why at Nurture Health, interdisciplinary teams of doctors, therapists, and nurses work seamlessly to restore function, confidence, and independence — helping thousands of South Africans reclaim quality of life after neurological injury or illness.

Don’t let your recovery slow down — choose care that builds Better Tomorrows.

This Stroke Week Nurture Health aims to shine the light on and spread awareness around strokes.

The most significant factor in being prepared to handle a stroke is recognizing the warning signs. A simple test can be conducted, which will allow FAST reaction and prompt care.

Remember the FAST test:

• Face – Is one side drooping?
• Arms – Can they raise both?
• Speech – Is it slurred or strange?
• Time – Call emergency services immediately.

By standing together and spreading awareness, we can support recovery and build better and stronger communities.

In 2010, the WHO recognised stroke as a major public health challenge.

Too many individuals suffer strokes without knowing how to spot the signs early enough.

In honour of World Stroke Day, we’d like to share with you a simple acronym to help you remember the signs to look out for when identifying a stroke:

F - Face drooping
A - Arm weakness
S - Speech difficulties
T - Time to call emergency services

Remember, in instances such as these, every single minute counts. Acting FAST could save a life.
