RH Piet Retief Private Hospital joins the global community in commemorating World Polio Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about the ongoing fight to end poliomyelitis (polio) worldwide.

Polio is a life-threatening disease caused by the poliovirus, which can lead to paralysis and, in severe cases, death. Since the World Health Assembly’s commitment in 1988 to eradicate polio, remarkable progress has been made through vaccination and global health initiatives.

Dr. Motaung completed her studies in General Surgery in 2023 at the University of the Free State and went on to practice at 3 Military Hospital in Bloemfontein. She has proudly served and trained in the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) for 21 years.

Known for being vibrant, confident, hardworking, and a true team player, Dr. Motaung is passionate about helping patients return to good health. She continuously strives to improve her craft and broaden her expertise in General Surgery.

RH Piet Retief Management and staff, together with Dr Mahlalela, had the honour of visiting Uzwelo Children's Home - South Africa.

We were privileged to hand over generous donations collected by our team, provide free wellness check-ups for the children, and host a Breast Cancer Awareness talk to educate the staff.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our staff and doctors for their contributions and unwavering support in making this initiative so meaningful.
