Mortuary Driver Duties

A mortuary driver is responsible for the safe, respectful, and lawful transportation of deceased persons. Typical duties include: Collection & Transportation
Collect bodies from homes, hospitals, accident scenes, and public places. Transport deceased persons to the mortuary, funeral parlour, or cemetery with dignity.

Documentation
Complete collection forms, body release documents, and delivery registers. Verify identification tags and ensure correct matching of paperwork.

Vehicle & Equipment Care
Keep the hearse/mortuary vehicle clean, disinfected, and roadworthy.Safely load, secure, and unload stretchers, coffins, and body trays.

Compliance & Safety
Follow health, safety, and infection-control procedures (PPE use). Adhere to traffic laws and mortuary regulations.

Professional Conduct
Show compassion and respect to bereaved families and colleagues. Maintain confidentiality at all times.

Support Duties
Assist with transfers within the mortuary when required. Be on call for after-hours or emergency collections.
