The Power of the words "Me Too"! These words let you know someone else understands you, helps you feel like you are not alone. And what great comfort this brings.

Group therapy ("Me Too" therapy as I would like to call it), is ideal for a group of individuals experiencing similar issues. Group cohesion encourages support, feeling of safety within the group, acknowledgement of not being alone, and creating an awareness of own and others emotions or state of mind

Play time with your children freely outdoors has proven to yield holistic positive outcomes.
Make the time.
If you not sure how to play anymore just go outside with them and follow their lead allow them to immerse you into their worlds.

Unstructured "nature play" benefits early childhood development in many ways.

New edition to the practice 😃 to facilitate in Play therapy.

ā€œ... in the play therapy experience, toys are like the child’s words, and play is the child’s language.ā€ ~Garry Landreth

Play therapy is most affective with children ages 3-12 as we use the toys and their approach to play as a means to communicate their worlds and inner conflicts. Play therapy DOES encompass psychological therapeutic approaches/methods.

It’s useful in asssessing social and emotional functioning, providing psycho-education,addressing psychological distresses, trauma, divorce in parents, low self-esteem, death/loss, and a number of other social/emotional/psychological issues faced by the child. It is also really useful in family therapy such as filial therapy to assist in rehabilitating attachments with caregivers and children.

So proud to have had the opportunity to contribute to this news article :)

Let's begin 2019 strong and ready to conquer. Read this article which informs parents on the risks of screen time for children and how to better control screen time accordingly.

Although technology has become an important part of our worlds, we need to be aware of how much it takes away from children's learning and development. Real time experiences of play, being active and socialising form crucial components to our children's holistic development.

Improving our children's learning and development means reducing their screen time.

Put away that screen and let your children reconnect with the world.

Recipe to raising Kind Children

Let's help our kids develop a better world for themselves. Let's leave a legacy of love and kindness.

Too often we tend to focus on academic development and neglect the fundamentals of what make us humans...humans who can relate and positively contribute to the world's the live in. Emotional intellect is not something we leave to the schools to teach it's something we as parents/godparents/aunts/uncles/grandparents etc etc...this is something WE need to do.

The change starts within...

Research fact: involvement improves your child’s scholastic progress in excess of their actual abilities. Here are 3 simple yet effective ways of being involved in your child’s learning:
1.
Prep a designated area & time to do homework activities/studying. Ensure this area is clear of distractions-this may at times mean having the television off and all family members engaging in quiet unobtrusive activities.
2.
Show pride in your child’s accomplishments, no matter how small, and display these in the household. A whiteboad/chalkboard/simple chart could also be used to write down any accomplishments of the day i.e.TUES: improved maths test mark by 5! Also sit with your child to set goals, have these displayed to ensure persistent progress towards such goals.
3.
Ensure that your child has sufficient sleep to benefit from the demands of the schooling day. Also ensure that he/she has the recommended number of daily meals and a balanced diet. If you need more guidance on this seek assistance from a nutritionist.

Talk to me: what are some of the creative ways you show your involvement in your child’s schooling and learning, particularly at home?
