Besides the signs and symptoms a urinalysis is done that is a sample of urine is tested to check for white blood cells ,red blood cells also urine can be sent to the lab for micro culture and sensitivity (mcs to identify the bacteria and help in choice of antibiotics.

Early signs and symptoms of diabetes:
-excessive thirst
-frequent urination
-loss of weight even when eating a lot
-wounds that don't heal or heal slow
-fatigue
-numbness and pain in the hands and feet
-feeling hungry even after eating.
These should be followed by further investigations to confirm that one is diabetic.

Having watched a video circulating on social media of a young patient shouting at a health care worker and not even giving the health care worker a chance to explain herself really breaks my heart.One of my goals is to bring awareness to the public that nurses are human too.
We are hiding a lot of wounds we are expected to be angels which we are not.We are expected to be in our best mood every day forgetting we are human too. Before we are nurses we are just like everyone.
Nurse patient relationship is not one sided.Patients don't understand that they have a responsibilities in the health care system too one of them is to respect Healthcare professionals.
We are nobody's walk over. We don't wake up in the morning to work 12hr shifts which even overlap to 14hrs without compensation to go and fight with patients.
We chose this profession sober minded and we love it but some patients want to bring the animals in us just like them as a disrespectful patients.
We are gorvened by rules that oppress us and allow patients to disrespect us.
We are not made differently because we are nurses.
We are the voice of patient's even the ones who disrespect us.A nurse is the first person you see in the health care sector and yet they are disrespected so badly.
We cry in secret and come back to work as if nothing happened because we can not break in front of patients
Giving credit to patients who respect health care workers, you give us purpose to do better.
