SMART FEEDING TIPS FOR HELTHY AND PRODUCTIVE GOATS
Here are some smart feeding tips for healthy and productive goats
1. Provide Balanced Diet
Include grasses, legumes, hay, grains, and minerals. Goats need energy (carbs), protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals.
2. Fresh, Clean Water Daily
Always ensure goats have access to clean water. Dehydration affects health and milk/meat production.
3. Avoid Moldy Feed
Never feed spoiled or moldy hay or grains it can cause serious illness.
4. Mineral Supplements
Provide salt licks or mineral blocks (especially with calcium, phosphorus, selenium).
5. Browse and Forage Access
Let goats graze shrubs and trees if available it improves nutrition and saves feed costs.
6. Feed by Age and Purpose
Kids, pregnant, lactating, and meat goats need different nutrient levels. Adjust feed accordingly.
7. Don’t Overfeed Grains
Too much grain can cause bloat or acidosis. Balance with fiber-rich roughages.
