Another Wednesday, another crew from Quest Africa - Eastern Cape
They spend a lot of time in and around the water during their adventures, which makes water safety absolutely essential, not only for themselves, but for their fellow Questers too.

Today, we head back to the Kariega Slipway to meet up with Group 3… and we’re ready πŸ”₯🌊

Last week’s group got stuck into:
⚠️ Reading the river and understanding real risk
πŸ›Ÿ Non-contact rescue principles (reach, throw, and so on)
🧠 Decision-making under pressure
🩺 Casualty handling and basic post-rescue care

βœ… We kicked off our first Accredited First Aid Level 1 of 2026! 7 incredible students all passed. Massive congratulations!
πŸ’› Hosted our first FREE Community First Aid Workshop: 11 community members learning the basics (because the basics save lives).
🌊 Launched our 8-Week Water Rescue & Safety Programme with Quest, every Wednesday morning at the Kariega Slipway.
🚐 And we’ve been up and down the coastline servicing fire extinguishers, all the way to Grahamstown, with our newest LifeFirst addition… Betsy πŸ˜‰

On Wednesday, our two instructors, Shannen and Wouna, made their way down to the Kariega Slipway to meet up with the Quest Africa - Eastern Cape crew for the very first Water Safety & Rescue workshop.

The focus for the day was:
🌊 Water safety awareness
🩺 Basic first aid & casualty care
πŸŒ™ Understanding tides and water movement
⚠️ Identifying risk and looking out for one another in and around the water

We’re stoked to hear how much they enjoyed the session, and even more excited about what the next 8 weeks of this partnership with Quest Africa will bring.
