Some weeks we move…
and then the last two weeks, we MOVED. What a time 👇

🚨 LIFEFIRST RECAP 🚨

🔥 Monday Nights = Fire Nights
We officially kicked off our Frontier Fire Assist training with 7 new crew members almost 3 weeks ago💪
Starting strong with hose drills + fitness (yes… there were big eyes 👀).
This is where discipline is built.

⛑️ Tuesdays = Controlled Chaos
We hosted an epic First Aid class with students from all walks of life, which kept us sharp and on our toes.
And just to keep things interesting? A proper thunderstorm rolled in 🌩️
Because apparently we don’t do “easy” at LifeFirst.

🌊 Wednesday = Full Circle Moment
Our final session with Quest Africa - Eastern Cape wrapped up after 8 incredible weeks of awesomeness!
Over 65 students trained in water safety and non-contact rescue techniques.
Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it, this is how we build safer communities.

🧯 Thursday = Boots on the Ground in PE with Bay Fire Safety Solutions
Out in Port Elizabeth doing what we do best...
servicing fire extinguishers, hose reels, and hydrants 🔧
Because compliance isn’t paperwork… it’s making sure equipment works when it matters most.

🏫 Friday = Changing the Bigger Picture
We joined Stenden South Africa School Disaster Risk Reduction Workshop where we got to deliver CPR & choking training...and honestly?
Best. Energy. Ever. 🙌

This is more than training.
This is impact. This is prevention.

💔 Women are less likely to survive cardiac arrest - but why?
A lot of attention has focused on something seemingly small: CPR manikins. Most are flat-chested and some have suggested that this is a key reason bystanders hesitate to perform CPR on women.
But the research tells a more nuanced story. Perman et al., 2019 show that women are about 14% less likely to receive bystander CPR in the U.S., and surveys reveal that hesitation stems from multiple sources such as fear of causing harm, concern about social or legal repercussions, and general discomfort.
💡 Could more realistic manikins help? Possibly, especially in reinforcing comfort during training. But improving survival for women after cardiac arrest will require broader strategies:
➡️ Public education on the importance of CPR for everyone
➡️ Legal protections and clear messaging for lay rescuers
➡️ Inclusive, realistic CPR training that addresses hesitation
➡️ Further study to identify and overcome the disparity

CPR isn’t just a skill — it’s a societal responsibility. Every body deserves a fighting chance.

When emergencies happen, we show up. No bill. No questions. Just people helping people.

LifeFirst Emergency Response NPC is built on one simple belief:
everyone deserves help when it matters most.

While many know LifeFirst for training and fire extinguisher services, the NPC arm focuses on something different.
We also operate as volunteer First Responders for our community, providing immediate medical and fire support when it’s needed most.

Over the past 3 months, our team has responded to 19 calls across Port Alfred, Kenton and Bathurst.

We’re not a big, funded operation.
We’re local volunteers, trained, committed, and ready to go.

This service is completely free to those in need.
And the truth? It only exists because of you.

To every individual, business, and organisation that supports LifeFirst,
thank you.

You’re the reason we can respond.
You’re the reason we can show up first.
And you’re the reason lives are being impacted. ❤️

🚨 If something goes wrong in your workplace… would you know what to do?

Workplace safety isn’t something to guess your way through, it requires the right knowledge, confidence, and practical skills.

Our SHE Representative Training on 31 March is designed to equip you with exactly that.

You’ll learn how to:
✔️ Identify risks before they become incidents
✔️ Understand your legal responsibilities
✔️ Conduct inspections and improve workplace safety
✔️ Respond to incidents in a structured, confident way

This is practical, relevant training focused on real-world application, because prevention is always better than response.

We're very excited to announce the opening of a Frontier Fire Assist satellite unit in Port Alfred. FFA is a volunteer fire crew based in Grahamstown, and we’re excited to now grow that presence here in our community.

We currently have 8 trainee volunteers who have joined the first intake and have begun their wildfire training journey, with practical training taking place on our local Fire Department’s training grounds.

A huge thank you to the Disaster Management students from Stenden South Africa, who recently built fire beaters alongside the Working on Fire teams as part of their practical training. These beaters have been generously donated to LifeFirst and will go a long way in helping equip and train our new FFA volunteer crew.

This is what community collaboration looks like! Volunteers, education, and emergency services working together to strengthen wildfire preparedness in Port Alfred and surrounds!

Make sure you check out their page here - https://www.facebook.com/frontierfireassist/

If you'd like to get involved in any way! Let us know!!

What 👏A 👏 Jol

Friday the 13th brought some serious heat (not just from the fire)! We had an epic Fire Training Session with a handful of students. The best part? Practical Fire Training!

Senior Firefighter De Wee kept everyone on their toes and the students even had the opportunity to "damp down" their own fire with the equipment from their fire truck!

Massive thanks to the Working on Fire Team for keeping us safe during practical!

First Aid and Fire training with these legends from Opposite the Arch and Major Fraser's in Grahamstown earlier this week!

Huge thanks to Frontier Fire Assist for providing safety standby during our live fire training and giving our students the chance to ask questions and get a feel for proper firefighting equipment!

Good Morning Grahamstown! It's a good day for some First Aid Training at Major Fraser's 💪💪
