School Hearing Screening 👂Yesterday we visited a local primary school to conduct hearing screenings for the learners. These screenings are so important during the early school years, as hearing plays a vital role in a child’s speech, language, learning and classroom participation.

Even a mild hearing loss can affect a child’s ability to follow instructions and keep up academically. Early screening helps identify possible difficulties so that support can be provided as soon as possible.

World Hearing Day took place on 4 March 2026. Our Audiologist, Anri van Onselen, represented Naudé Hearing Solutions in a collaborative hearing healthcare initiative. Professionals from the private and public sectors joined forces to screen the hearing of 153 school children from disadvantaged communities in Gqeberha/Port Elizabeth. The South African Association of Audiologists was behind this commendable initiative. Great working with our colleagues: Kelly Schroeder, Reneé Verson Audiologists, MD Audiology and Sipho from PE Provincial Hospital.

Yesterday was cochlear implant day for our patient from the Garden Route that suffered a sudden loss of hearing following a viral infection. Dr. Louis Hofmeyr (ENT) successfully implanted the affected cochlea and Melanie conducted tests on the implant afterwards.
