Dear patients, today in two weeks time our practices will close for the festive season. Please ensure that you have enough stock of your hearing aid consumables (hearing aid batteries, wax filters, hearing aid tubings and domes) so that you can use your hearing aids successfully during this time of family and social gatherings. We will reopen on Thursday 8 January 2026.

Today, Melanie Naudé, Audiologist, is working with Dr. Louis Hofmeyr and Dr. Johan Nell, ENT surgeons, to facilitate hearing improvement for a lady from the Garden Route, who is experiencing profound sensorineural hearing loss in both ears. Today marks the first step in a comprehensive process, involving the insertion of a cochlear implant under the skin, to be followed by a recovery period, activation of the implant, multiple programming and mapping sessions, and active listening exercises and aural rehabilitation.

This cutie had her middle ear function tested this morning 😀. It is an objective test, in other words, it doesn’t require the patient to respond to sound. The tympanometer produces a graph called a “tympanogram” when a probe is placed in the patient’s ear canal that causes the eardrums to move. Photo shared with permission.
