That's it for 2025 🤍
Yesterday we celebrated a year of growth, hard work, and teamwork. We are so grateful for each member of our team and the heart they bring to the practice every day.🌱

We also celebrated our precious Dani, who will be leaving the practice at the end of the year. She will be getting married in January and relocating to the Western Cape with her husband. We thank her sincerely for her dedication, compassion, and the joyful spirit she brought to our team. She will be deeply missed, and we wish her every happiness in this exciting new chapter.💜

To all our patients and their families, we wish you a blessed Christmas and a peaceful festive season. 🎄Thank you for trusting us with your care throughout the year.💛

Please note that the practice will be closed for the holidays and will reopen on 5 January 2026. We look forward to welcoming you back in the new year.🌞

November holds a special place in our hearts as Prematurity Awareness Month.

Yesterday was World Prematurity Day — a reminder of the extraordinary courage found in the tiniest of humans and the families who hold them.
From the early days in the NICU to the milestones celebrated in therapy rooms, it remains one of our greatest privileges to support preemie families.

‘There is no footprint so small that it cannot leave an imprint on this world.’

💜 To all the preemies and parents we have the privilege to walk alongside — you are remarkable. 💜

What a beautiful initiative that was held recently. 💜

Life St George's Hospital is proud to be the first hospital in South Africa to take part in the international "Babies With Books read-a-thon" initiative, which runs from 8 – 18 September 2025.
During this week our NICU staff encouraged parents and grandparents of premature babies to read storybooks to the preterm babies as much as possible. “Reading to babies has been seen to calm the baby. This can be seen objectively by watching a slowing heart rate and breathing rate, better synchronisation of breathing with the ventilator and a reduction in blood pressure. It has also shown decreased physical cues of discomfort”, says Dr Greg Boden, neonatologist at Life St George’s Hospital.
