Sometimes, the thyroid is affected by the immune system. Thatโs where thyroid antibody tests come in.
These blood tests look for antibodies that may be attacking the thyroid gland. They help us detect autoimmune thyroid conditions such as:
โ Hashimotoโs disease (often linked to underactive thyroid)
โ Gravesโ disease (often linked to overactive thyroid)
The most common thyroid antibodies tested include:
โข TPO antibodies (Thyroid peroxidase antibodies)
โข TG antibodies (Thyroglobulin antibodies)
Why it matters: Even if TSH, T4 and T3 look normal, thyroid antibodies can show early signs of thyroid problems or explain ongoing symptoms.
At Rachem Wellness, we believe in looking deeper โ not just at numbers, but at the bigger picture of your health.
