Hernia

A hernia usually happens in your abdomen or groin, when one of your organs pushes through the muscle or tissue that contains it. It may look like an odd bulge that comes and goes during different activities or in different positions. It may or may not cause symptoms, such as discomfort or pain. Most hernias eventually will need surgical repair.
How to support a hernia
• Hernia truss: A supportive undergarment for men designed to keep the protruding tissue in place and relieve discomfort.
• Hernia briefs: Suitable for reducible hernias and can be used pre or post-surgery.
• Abdominal wraps: Can be used to support the abdominal area.
• Reduce heavy lifting.
• Perform light abdominal exercises to strengthen the abdominal wall.
• Hold a pillow on your abdomen if you need to cough or sneeze.
• Prevent constipation by drinking plenty of fluids and practice good nutrition with plenty of fibre and bulk in the diet.
