: Trauma to the forefoot is common and occurs by direct trauma (such as something falling on your foot) or by indirect trauma (twisting you foot). It can cause fractures of your tarsal and metatarsal bones (which are the long bones in your foot). Most of these injuries need to be treated surgically to prevent complications such as chronic pain and arthritis.
Symptoms of a fracture:
• Pain
• Swelling
• Bruising and discoloration
• Not being able to put weight on your foot
