We’ve sectioned off a little corner of our office to create a safe, nurturing outdoor space where children can explore, regulate, play, and heal. This garden will be used for sensory play, emotional regulation activities, grounding exercises, and therapeutic conversations under the open sky 🌱

Nature has a gentle way of helping little nervous systems settle and brave hearts open. And we would LOVE your help bringing this space to life!

Celebrating International Play Therapy Week at Rooted! 🧸🪁💚

At Rooted, play therapy is more than a modality — it’s a powerful platform where children are met with safety, understanding, and the freedom to heal in the language they know best: play. 🌱

To ensure that our play therapy services are always of the highest ethical and professional quality, we are intentional about how we practice:

✔️All our play therapists hold a minimum of a Master’s degree in play-based intervention and are required to remain up to date with continuous, specialised training in this field.

✔️Every therapeutic journey begins with a comprehensive socio-emotional assessment first, allowing us to develop clear, individualised, and effective therapeutic goals.

✔️Our therapists engage in monthly individual supervision, bi-monthly group supervision, and ongoing in-house training and learning opportunities throughout the year.

Because when it comes to children’s healing, quality, ethics, and care are never optional — they are foundational 💚🌱

We started off our week at Rooted with a Process Mapping Workshop on Psycho-Legal Investigations. 🌱

Process mapping allows us to slow down complex work, make the invisible visible, and ensure that every step in a psycho-legal investigation is intentional, ethical, and aligned with best practice. ⚖️

Continuous professional development isn’t an “extra” for us — it’s a core value. We believe that the highest standard of ethical, accountable, and child-centred care is only possible when social workers are supported to keep learning, reflecting, and refining their practice. 📖

That’s why we intentionally create as many in-house learning opportunities as possible, where our team can strengthen skills, align processes, and uphold quality in complex psycho-legal work. 💚

We are so excited to welcome Erné van Coller and Melanie Terblans to the Rooted family! 💚

Erné joins us as our new Rooted Community Worker, playing a vital role in helping us reach communities in more meaningful and effective ways. Her work will focus on empowering and supporting communities, strengthening our presence on the ground, and expanding Rooted’s multidisciplinary approach to care and support.

We are also thrilled to welcome Melanie, our very first Rooted Social Work Intern. As a newly qualified social worker, she will be working across various Rooted projects, shadowing our social workers, and gaining a comprehensive experience of social work practice.

We are incredibly excited about the energy, commitment, and impact these two amazing ladies will bring to Rooted this year, and we can’t wait to see all that we’ll grow and build together in 2026!💚 🌿
