A strong posture is the foundation of good health. It's essential to recognize that proper posture impacts your overall well-being, reducing strain on the spine, neck, and back. Improving posture starts from a simple alignment and progresses as you strengthen your body. Start with the beginner level and slowly increase the intensity to see gradual improvements in both flexibility and core strength.

The key to mastering posture progression is consistency and proper technique. In the beginner position, focus on keeping your spine aligned and engaging your core to support the muscles around your back. As you advance through moderate to intermediate, you’ll gradually work on increasing your strength, flexibility, and endurance. These small steps allow for smooth progression without strain.

Each level of posture progression offers unique benefits. As you move to the advanced stage, expect more significant improvements in your posture and alignment. These stages teach you how to engage muscles more efficiently, prevent back pain, and improve overall body awareness. Practicing these postures consistently will help you build long-lasting strength. 💪🧘‍♀️

Hold each pose actively for 10 breaths.
Or take a completely relaxed version ( yin style ) fully releasing in the postures for between 3-5 minutes.
Both will be calming, yin will allow more time for the body to open, but if you’re already pretty mobile stay active to keep strengthening.
Note : Your poses may look a little different to mine here as every body is different, no pain at any point please !
Knees to ear is not for everyone, be very careful getting into this pose particularly if you’re a beginner. An alternative is to raise legs up the wall, also has calming benefits. ♡

Sound Journey

We will be hosting a Sound Journey faciliteted by Vaughan Harris on 25 October.

Each of us are made up of a myriad of frequencies and vibrations which are influenced by everything and everyone we come into contact with. Vaughan has dedicated more than 2 decades to sharing the sacred vibrations of our worlds indigenous instruments. His intention is that a gentle yet powerful space attuned to enhancing your well being is created. This vibrational music landscape is designed to evoke the essence of Mother Earth and the sound technology of the ancient peoples.

What is Sound Journey?
The facilitator plays a variety of instruments and participants lie down while experiencing the sound and vibrations of the instruments. One is exposed to a range of frequencies and can experiencing a variety of things from physical to subtle. It’s ancient vibratory technology and works on the principles of cymatics.

Date: Saturday, 25 October.
Venue: YMAA, Menlo Park.
Time: 3.45pm for 4pm. The Journey starts at 4pm sharp.
Cost: R300 per person.
