Be careful of what you allow yourself to consume on a daily basis.

Yes, on occasion we can enjoy a less nutritious meal or snack, but when you consume daily has tons of preservatives, colourants, fillers etc in, you’re not doing your body or health a favour.

Make it your goal starting this week to choose fresher food options.

Whey protein is made from a by-product in the cheese making process.
It is then processed into a powder.

There are three types of whey protein:
1. Concentrate
2. Isolate
3. Hydrolysate

•WHY•
Whey protein contains all of the essential amino acids that aid multiple of the vital processes in our body for example building proteins, hormones and neurotransmitters.

In addition whey protein promotes muscle growth and effectively prevents age-related muscle loss.

•HOW•
The amount of protein we need to consume daily is roughly 0,8g per kilogram of bodyweight.

Thus, depending on your diet and activity level, 1-3 servings of high quality whey protein is recommended per day to supplement your total protein intake.

• SUPPLEMENTS •

As if starting your fitness journey isn’t overwhelming enough, THAT aisle in Dischem comes in and adds some confusion with all its self proclaimed “magic” fat dissolvers. 🙄

Let me straight forward, I’ve been that girl standing there for 20mins wondering which supplement I believe is going to work the best based on its graphic design. 😂

I’ve been through the bad tasting, tummy burning, heartburn giving, nauseating, bloating supps. More than once. 😬

As a semi-professional athlete I wasn’t able to just consume anything and everything on the market. In fact, even my allergy medication was banned. 🤧
5 years ago I started using a brand that I believe in to this day.

My tips when supplement shopping:

1. I highly recommend a protein shake. It helps A LOT to reach your daily protein intake goal. Your body absolutely needs protein- especially to build muscle. It also keeps you fuller for longer.

2. Stick to brands you can find in Dischem- this way you know it’s tested independently and what you see on the label is actually in the product. Ditch the dodgy brands.

3. Forget the idea that a product is going to absolutely transform your life. Nothing will work unless you do! They are meant to SUPPLEMENT your healthy habits, not override your bad ones.

4. If you don’t know, don’t just buy. Ask, get informed, decide then buy.

5. Prioritise your eating and exercise habits, then focus on supplements.

My top 3 favourite supplements are:
1. Hydrotech whey (more affordable option) or 100% Bluelab whey (better quality but more expensive). Without exaggerating, Hydrotech is the best tasting whey I’ve EVER had!! 😩

2. B4 Burn pre-workout. It makes me sweat and gives me a kickstart without the itchies. 😅

3. All 9 Amino (Pineapple flavour is 🤤). I enjoy sipping on something that tastes amazing during my workout. It also assists in recovery. 🍍

👀 I know we’ve ALL faced this! 👀

…especially in a world where we’re constantly faced with opening Instagram and seeing “perfect” lives, butts, eating habits, success, people getting those 10k steps in after getting 4 kids to school and drinking 2L of water by 9…you name it. The world does look like a damn happy place on Instagram. 🥴

Truth is, we’ve all got struggles & sometimes we don’t deal with the problem, we suppress, we eat, we drink etc.

Get to know me pt. 2 ✨

1. I’m totally an introvert who LOVES to spend time by myself. I prefer training alone and I generally am not a fan of large groups of people. I definitely suffer from some degree of sound related anxiety. (I often drive with no sound in the car 😂)

2. I am very passionate and interested in medical law and recently completed a course in the field. 🏥

3. I don’t enjoy cardio. 😫 Because I used to be a sprinter, I prefer to run at a very fast pace for a very short period of time instead 😂

4. I can super easily become vegetarian, however, very ironically, my family in law farm with sheep so inevitably I’ll never escape with a boerseun I need to feed 😂🐑

5. I am fascinated by pregnant women, cats, true crime & psychiatry. ✌🏼
