On 23 December 2025 at approximately 15:11, PVES members responded to a medical call from a concerned father who reported that his son was struggling to breathe. PVES volunteers and practitioners arrived promptly on scene, where the family was found waiting anxiously.

The patient, an 8-year-old boy, was alert and breathing normally on arrival, under close supervision from his parents. A comprehensive on-scene medical assessment was conducted, including neurological and coordination checks. It was determined that the child had likely experienced a minor fit.
All vital signs were within normal limits, and the patient was found to be stable and in good overall health. No further medical intervention was required at the time. The incident served as a reminder of the importance of quick response, calm assessment, and effective teamwork during medical emergencies.

On Thursday afternoon, the CERT Centurion crew responded to an attempted su***de incident at a residence in Knoppieslaagte, on the outskirts of Centurion.

A 74-year-old female patient attempted self-harm by sustaining multiple lacerations. Thankfully, neighbours discovered her shortly thereafter, immediately rendered first aid, controlled the bleeding, and activated emergency services.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are unclear at this time. The patient was stabilised on scene and transported to a nearby hospital in a stable condition.

We commend the neighbours for their swift and decisive actions, which played a critical role in ensuring the patient received timely care.

On Saturday afternoon, emergency services responded to a stabbing incident at a residential home in Eldoraigne, Centurion.

Upon arrival, crews found a man in his forties who had sustained a stab wound to the chest, with the injury having penetrated the heart. Due to the severity of the injury, the patient was rapidly transported to a nearby hospital in a critical condition.

Recognising the acute seriousness of the patient’s condition, the emergency crew alerted Unitas Hospital in advance, allowing the trauma team to prepare for immediate intervention. Upon arrival at the hospital, a specialised trauma team was on standby and performed an emergency thoracotomy to control the bleeding and stabilise the patient.

Thanks to the swift actions of the CERT emergency crew and Emergency Medical Solutions on scene, together with the decisive and precise intervention by the trauma team at Netcare Unitas Hospital, the patient was successfully stabilised.

The patient remains in a critical but stable condition in the intensive care unit. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family, and we hope for a full recovery.
