About us

The Wellspring Foundation; Founded in 2013, the wellspring foundation stands on the shoulders of its central purpose of the promotion of human and community development and its three imperatives of literacy improvement, poverty eradication and social injustice. As we work to build strong communities, we hope to reinforce and grow a culture of human rights to better living conditions. This philanthropic drive exemplifies people around the Republic of South Africa. Through charitable donations, the Wellspring Foundation will assist SACBOs (South African Community Based Organisations), NGOs and other social enterprises to address social injustice, community needs and improve overall quality of life. The following are the three major driving forces behind the wellspring foundation. Literacy (childhood and youth),
Poverty eradication, and;
Social injustice. The wellspring foundation contributes to charitable organisations across the Republic of South Africa and around the world. Educational empowerment: We offer significant support and assistance to Pre-Schools, Primary Schools and Secondary Schools through the provision of resources in need. We believe that in the next 40-50 years we will be living in a poverty free world which also have better economic excellence. Our vision is also to put into action programs and a focus on literacy improvement in South Africa and around the whole world and a commitment to build strong communities. THE MISSION

Food Security; means that all people at all-time have physical and economical access to adequate amounts of nutrition, safe and culturally appropriate food. Empowering the poor amongst rural and urban communities, thus contributing to
the emancipation of the community from poverty. Making social changes more visible in implementing
community development. Ensuring high rate of literate young men and woman
through educational empowerment. Improving public recognition of the disadvantaged
communities. Objectives;
To fight against poverty, through assisting, poor individuals, widows widowers, and orphans. To provide better housing for the poor and disadvantaged individuals. To empower literacy through the establishment of libraries and study rooms in communities in need. To provide scholarships/financial aid to the poor for their overall career development. To educate young men and women against social ills e.g. taking drugs and alcohol. To provide disaster relief, and preparedness to people suffering from natural disaster, such as floods, and earthquakes. To raise funds through collections of donations or subscription and other means and invest money or incur expenditure in such manner that shall promote the aims and objective of the foundation. Moreover, our major objective is a work of welfare in relation to poverty and disease or in respect to social groups such as elderly or children. We focus mostly on the following social groups;

Pre-school groups. Primary school groups. Secondary school groups and other disadvantaged tertiary students. Orphans, widows, and widowers. Our area of focus;
We focus on;

(a). Literacy (Education)

Illiteracy is one of the major causes of poverty all over the world. The higher the number of illiterate individuals the higher the rate of poverty. According to national census of 2011, among the South African population, 35.2% black/African, 32.6% of coloured, 61.6% of Indian/Asians and76% of white have completed an education of high school or higher. 41.7% of the population have completed an education of high school or higher, where 8.6% of the population aged 20 years and old has not completed any schooling. Moreover, according to (stats SA) or Statistic South Africa there is a strong link between increased level of education and decreased levels of poverty. Our focus upon all this is to improve childhood, youth and elderly literacy. This will be enforced through the following programs in primary schools and high schools;
o Reading competition as known as reading playoffs,
o Highest performing students’ awards. o Provide tuition funds foe university students. o Adult Learning Program (ALP). Social injustice

Social injustice is a relatively concept about the unfairness or injustice of a societal groups in their divisions of rewards and burdens and other incidental inequities based on the user’s worldview of humanity. Working hand in hand with Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and Community Based Organisations (CBOs) we address and redress these social inequities in the South African communities. Many remote communities experience the greatest injustice, having being isolated; the government finds it difficult to recognise such communities. Our duty thereof is to ensure that such communities are taken in to cognizance and are recognised by the government. Poverty. Poverty tragedy is the most sensitive situation. Poverty has stricken lot people; some of them sleep in the streets and under bridges. However, the wellspring foundation’s main focus is on the following groups victimized by poverty; the orphans, elderly people who has no source of income, widows and widowers.

Good day,

I’ve recently started a non-profit Christian organisation called Christ Chasers. It is a movement aimed at empowering teenage girls to become all that God created them to be and help them break out of the cycle of poverty which is so prevalent among black women who live in rural areas.
My team and I hope to raise a generation of young ladies who are chasing after Christ and not things that ultimately cause them to live further below the poverty lines. Sadly, some of the things that these girls do, for example sleeping around or even prostitution, are means through which they can survive. Hence me coming to them and telling them about the love of Christ and how He wants them to leave all these other things could possibly be heard as me telling them to go a month without food or sanitary pads or any other basic needs that so many of us take for granted.
We would, therefore, like to tell them about the love of Christ, motivate them in every way possible, and expose them to all the opportunities that are out there, but most importantly provide for their basic needs.
My team and I want to start going to schools in the rural parts of Mkhuhlu and speak to these girls. We would also like to bring goodie bags along with us as we go there. Ideally, these bags will contain sanitary pads, lotion, toothpaste, bath soap (and anything else we might afford).
Purchasing these things is going to cost money which the organisation doesn’t have since we are just starting out. We would, therefore, like to ask for your help in making a difference in some teenage girl’s life. A contribution of R40 or more would be highly appreciated and we believe would really go a long way.

If you are interested in making a contribution please let me know by email or whatsapp (0764508324).

Please feel free to forward this message to all your friends, we need as much help as we can get.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Kind regards,
Anitah Nkuna.

the late former president of republic of south Africa once said “Overcoming poverty is not a task of charity, it is an act of justice. Like Slavery and Apartheid, poverty is not natural. It is man-made and can be overcome and eradicated by the actions of human beings." Sometimes it falls on a generation to be great. YOU can be that great generation. Let your greatness blossom through your act of justice to others

God bestows His blessings without discrimination. The followers of Jesus are children of God, and they should manifest the family likeness by doing good to all, even to those who deserve the opposite.

I don’t want to live in the kind of world where we don’t look out for each other. Not just the people that are close to us, but anybody who needs a helping hand. I cant change the way anybody else thinks, or what they choose to do, but I can do my bit.”
