First Aid Tip: CPR for a Drowning Baby
Every second counts when a baby has drowned. Knowing the correct CPR technique can save a life β€” but using the wrong method can cause harm.

❌ What NOT to do:
- Don’t perform adult-style CPR with full force.
- Don’t shake or hit the baby.
- Don’t use adult apparatus on a baby.

βœ… What to DO:
- Call for emergency help immediately.
- Check for pulse and breathing: If the baby isn’t breathing, start CPR immediately.
- Start chest compressions: Use 2 fingers in the centre of the chest, press down about 4 cm, and do 30 compressions followed by 2 rescue breaths.
- Continue CPR until the baby starts breathing or help arrives.

πŸ’‘ Remember: Stay calm, act fast, and use gentle, controlled movements.
Correct technique saves tiny lives! ❀️

First Aid Tip: CPR and Choking Babies 🚨
Did you know that performing CPR incorrectly on a choking baby can be dangerous? Many people make the mistake of giving hard chest compressions or trying to perform adult CPR techniques on infants.

❌ What NOT to do:
- Don’t perform adult-style CPR with full force.
- Don’t try to hit the baby’s back or chest aggressively.
- Don’t insert fingers blindly into the baby’s mouth.
- Don't shake the bay upside down.

βœ… What you SHOULD do:
- Back blows and chest thrusts: Alternate 5 firm but gentle back blows with 5 chest thrusts using 2 fingers.
- Position correctly: Hold the baby face down on your forearm, supporting the head and neck.

Call for help immediately if the baby doesn’t improve.
πŸ’‘ Remember: Babies are fragile β€” correct technique saves lives!

Health & Safety Representatives: A Legal Requirement for Workplaces
Employers with 20 or more employees must appoint Health and Safety Representatives to monitor workplace conditions. These representatives act as a vital link between employees and management, ensuring safety concerns are addressed effectively.

Key Points:
- Appointment must be in writing and for a specified period.
- Representatives should be full-time employees familiar with workplace conditions.
- At least one representative is required for every 50 workers (or part thereof) in most workplaces.
- Shops and offices require one representative for every 100 workers (or part thereof).
- Employers must provide necessary facilities, training, and assistance during working hours.

Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act to maintain a safe working environment.
