If it works for dogs, it will most likely work for humans as well. The scientific proof is increasing more and more.
Scientists are studying the effects of cannabidiol combined with chemotherapy in dog bladder cancer cell lines, and have concluded cannabidiol shows promising results as a single agent or in combination with certain cancer drugs.
This is just one of many studies looking at the potential of cannabidiol use in veterinary medicine, with much more research on the horizon.
Have you used cannabidiol products with your pets? We talk about CBD in The Forever Dog book because itâs touted as a panacea, of sorts, with multiple potential beneficial effects on the body; calming the nervous system, treating pain and anxiety, and now may adjunctively treat cancer.
And while many of us experienced the benefits of using this herb to manage specific challenges with our own dogs, the biggest issue with dog CBD products on the market (besides quality control and potency issues, which are big issues) is the misguided assumption that it can manage ALL sources of physical pain and improve every behavioral issue.
It wonât.
CBD and many other herbal products may be beneficial for your dog or cat in certain circumstances, but in many cases, unless additional interventions, including ongoing behavioral therapy, are included (what we call âmultimodal therapy,â or doing several things to address the problem at once), CBD alone wonât change the medical or behavioral picture youâre seeing.
So how do you know what supplements to give and in what combination? We set aside an entire chapter to answer this question, but in a nutshell, whatâs most important (in terms of not flooding the bowl with excessive pills, making sure you know what youâre giving and why, and not spending a fortune) is the wise assessment of which supplements best serves your dog at this moment. Like humans, different animals need different support at different times and for different reasons. You can find out more in our new book: foreverdog.com/go/
