Celebrating Values in Action

At Rehab@Muelmed, our patients remain at the centre of everything we do — even when their journey requires care in other units. Two of our rehabilitation patients were admitted to ICU at Mediclinic Muelmed, where our Rehab team has already begun supporting their recovery journey alongside the ICU team.

We are proud to recognise Staff Nurse Basani Maluleke, whose exceptional clinical skill and dedication have made a meaningful difference in their care. Basani played a critical role in managing a quadriplegic patient, where her expertise helped prevent the need for ventilation, and she continues to support the care of another of our patients in ICU.

Her compassion, teamwork and unwavering commitment to patient wellbeing truly reflect the spirit of Rehab@Muelmed Values in Action.

Thank you, Basani, for the difference you make — your care does not go unnoticed.

More Than Just Beanies - A Stitch of Kindness

What began as a challenge set by Acino Pharma has grown into something truly special at Rehab@Muelmed.

We called our project “A Stitch of Kindness” — and that is exactly what it became.

During lunch breaks.
In between meetings.
Late at night.
Over weekends.

Our team picked up knitting needles and crochet hooks — and kept going.

✨ 433 beanies and counting
✨ Over 300 handmade by the staff of Rehab@Muelmed
✨ With generous support and donations from Laura Swart (a former Rehab@Muelmed patient) and the Cotton Balls Crochet Group

Every stitch represents warmth.
Every beanie carries comfort.
Every thread tells a story of care.

These beanies will bring warmth to children living with Cerebral Palsy across the country — and remind their families that they are supported by a community that cares deeply.

Thank you to Acino Pharma for sparking this meaningful challenge.
We are proud to have answered it with heart.

At the 22nd Outeniqua Wheelchair Challenge, the streets of George became a celebration of courage, community and competitive spirit — and we couldn’t be prouder to see one of our own shining on the start line.

Congratulations to Ewald Verster, who took 1st place in the 10km race this weekend!

Ewald is a tetraplegic and a former patient of Rehab@Muelmed, and watching him compete at this level is a powerful reminder of what determination, resilience and hard work can achieve.

Seeing our patients go on to live full, active and extraordinary lives is why we do what we do.

We are incredibly proud of you, Ewald — your journey continues to inspire us all!
