On Sunday afternoon at approximately 13h00, our Centurion crew received a distress call to a residential home in Lyttelton for a man who was unresponsive and experiencing inadequate breathing.
Upon arrival, our crew found a 61-year-old man lying unresponsive in his bed. During the initial patient assessment, the patient suddenly went into cardiac arrest. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was immediately initiated, and the patient was rapidly transported to a nearby hospital, where he was stabilised and later admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
We would like to thank PRSS Security, ER24, and the bystanders on scene for their assistance and cooperation during this critical incident.
⚠️ Safety Tip – CPR Saves Lives:
Knowing how to perform CPR can make the difference between life and death during a cardiac emergency. When someone goes into cardiac arrest, every second counts. Early recognition, immediate CPR, and rapid access to emergency medical care significantly improve survival outcomes. We encourage community members to undergo basic life support and CPR training—you may one day save a life.
